|---|
Today, the theme of this competition is films based on romance. For this contest, I have chosen the movie Maine Pyar Kiya.
Briefly, the story of this film revolves around two friends who live in a village. When their children are still young, they arrange for their children to be married to one another in the future. However, by the time the children grow up, one friend has become wealthy while the other remains poor. Consequently, when the poor friend's daughter reaches marriageable age, he takes her to visit his friend's home—hoping to reunite with his old companion after many years and discuss fulfilling the promise they had once made.
But upon arriving at his friend's bungalow, he is met with neither happiness nor respect. His friend is repulsed by his poverty. The film is based on this premise; ultimately, the children of the two friends fall in love with each other. To win his beloved, the male protagonist even renounces his wealthy father; in the end, their love triumphs, and the two are united.

What type of love was most powerful in the movie? |
|---|
This film portrays the essence of true love—specifically, how the hero breaks through the barriers of class and wealth to love the heroine truly. For her sake, he abandons all his luxuries and riches; furthermore, in his efforts to win over both his own father and his beloved's father, he does not hesitate to engage in manual labor and hard work.
The movie depicts a love that is pure and selfless. It illustrates how, despite enduring hunger, back-breaking labor, and harsh weather—be it freezing cold or pouring rain—he never wavers in his devotion to his love, and ultimately, love prevails.
Do you think the love conveyed through this movie is realistic today? And why? |
|---|
The kind of love portrayed in this film is a rarity in real life. Nowadays, it is uncommon to find young men—or young women, for that matter—who are so devoted, sincere, and true-hearted. Yet, once in a hundred times, one might encounter a couple whose love is so genuine that they consider wealth and material possessions to be utterly insignificant compared to their love for one another. As depicted in this film, the fathers of the protagonist and the heroine were childhood friends; consequently, during their youth, they had arranged for their children to be married to one another.
However, the wheel of fortune turned in such a way that the boy's father became immensely wealthy, while the girl's father remained poor. Then—in a scenario that, unfortunately, remains all too common even today—when the girl's father arrived at his friend's home with his daughter, he was treated with utter disrespect. Furthermore, the friend reneged on his promise regarding the marriage. Yet, despite these circumstances, the two children fell deeply in love with each other. It is this very love story that is portrayed in this film.
What did the movie teach you about love? |
|---|
What this film taught me about love is that when true love exists, material wealth, social status, and societal hierarchies cease to matter. A person in love becomes willing to go to any lengths to win the affection of their beloved, and it is precisely then that their love story attains immortality. A person who loves truly will never betray your trust; they will always treat you with respect—this is the hallmark of true love. Indeed, true love is that which does not compel the other person to change, but rather accepts them exactly as they are, unconditionally.
I want to invite my friends to take part in this contest: , @suboohi , @chant , @lirvic"
