"SC-S31/W2-Movie Magic |Movies that redefines Success (Hidden Figures)
What really is success? Is it when you drive big jeep which everybody admire? Or is it when you live at a mansion that has swimming pool? Or when your name is everywhere on social media? If it's only money and fame we do call success, then many people which change life quietly won't be count as successful people. Let's watch out...
Watch any movie that speaks of success beyond money and fame |
|---|
The movie which i choose to watch is Hidden Figures. Therefore the film really focuses about the three strong Black women – Katherine Johnson, Dorothy Vaughan, and Mary Jackson – which were working for NASA, during that time America was just trying to enter the space.
These women didn't have fame like celebrity, they didn't drive flashy car, but their brain and courage help America to achieve something which the whole world respect till today.

How Did The Movie Define Success |
|---|
The film show that success is not about who is popular or who is rich, success is about how you use your gift to solve problem, break barrier, and leave mark that will last. These story do happen in 1960s in America, that time racism and segregation was still very strong. Black people don't have equal chance with white people, especially women. But these three women still push through.
Katherine Johnson being mathematics genius. NASA was struggling to calculate rocket trajectory which will be able to carry astronaut John Glenn into the orbit. All the men were doubting her because she was a woman and also Black in color. But she proved them wrong. She calculate the numbers perfectly, and it was her work that made the mission succeed. That one really shows that success is when you can use your brain and skill to solve problem which nobody could or can solve, even if people look down on you.
Dorothy Vaughan too was another woman that lead the group of Black women which did calculation for NASA. When she notice that computers will soon replace human calculation, she didn't just sit down to complain. She teach herself programming and later teach her team too. That move she did save her people job and make them relevant. That one too shows that success is when you can see future, prepare yourself, and carry others along too. Success is not for someone to be selfish and later claimed successful, it's when you open door for others.
Another person is Mary Jackson, she has a dream to be engineer, but segregation was blocking her. The school which she suppose to attend didn't allow Black people. Instead of giving up, she fight legally to enter the school. She succeeded, and later become NASA’s first Black female engineer. That one too shows that success is when you can challenge the system which blocks you, and create new path for yourself and others.
So in all the movie define success as courage, resilience, and impact. Success is when you can stand strong against discrimination, use your gift to change history, and open doors for others too. Success is not measured by applause or fame, but by the way your work do touch life and break barrier.
Which character had a life you admired most? |
|---|
Among the three women, it's Katherine Johnson I admire the most. That woman brain was fire. Even when men look down on her, she didn't allow that one to stop her. She calculate rocket trajectory like it was a ludo game play. She didn't shout, she didn't fight physically, but her work speak louder than any fame. I admire her humility and consistency. She do face a lot of challenge.
Sometimes they will even refuse to give her toilet which she can use just because of segregation. Imagine that you are working hard for this particular people but you are still trekking far just to use toilet. Yet she still focuses on her work. She show that success is when you don't allow any obstacle to stop you from shining. Her life is a example of how a person can use a quiet strength to change history.
What lesson about success did you take away? |
|---|
However the biggest and important lesson which I took from this movie is that success is not measured by material things alone. Success is about purpose, impact, and courage. The film teach me that sometimes success is silent, but it's powerful. You can be at the background, but your work could change the world. Success is when you can use your gift to break barrier and inspire others too and not to be selfish.
However, another lesson being learned is that success requires resilience. Those three women face discrimination, rejection, and a lot of problems in different aspects, but even with that they didn't stop. They keep pushing until their work speak for them. Success doesn't come easily, but if you can hold on, your gift will open door. The movie also show that success is collective. Therefore Each of those women contributed in their own way, and together they really make history. Success is also about teamwork and how your effort can join with others to achieve something much bigger.
In conclusion |
|---|
As we all hustle for life, we shouldn't measure ourself only by money or fame. Ask yourself: who do i impact? Which barrier do i break? Which legacy do i leave? That's the real success. Hidden Figures remind me that success can be quiet but powerful. Success can be that moment when you use your gift to change life, even if nobody clap hands for you. Success can be when you open road for others, even if your name is not on the headline for people to see. So I can simply say that Success is not only about money, fame, and present legacy, it's also about purpose, impact and legacy that will last.
