Integrity
What does it mean to be "true to yourself"?
To be "true to yourself" means living in alignment with my core values, identity, and beliefs not just following others to do what they are doing. It is all about me knowing who I am, what I stand for, and making choices that reflect who I am, even when it is uncomfortable for me. It doesn't mean one needs to be so rigid, like being hard on people, it is all about growing without leaving my core values.
Why is it important for people to keep their promises?
People need to keep their promises because promises build trust. When we keep our word, it shows respect, integrity, and reliability. Also over time promises create strong relationships which on the other hand breaking promises repeatedly weakens trust, and once trust is broken or damaged, it is so hard to rebuild. People see our words as our reputation.
What's the difference between being honest and being nice?
Being honest is all about telling the truth, while being nice is about how you make others feel. To this I can say that the tension between being honest and being nice comes when the truth might hurt someone which I can be an honest person and still not be a nice person.
If your friend asked you to lie for them to get out of trouble, would you do it? Why or why not?
Well its will be based on the circumstances or conditions, which generally I hate telling lies. Lying for my friend might feel like loyalty in the moment, but it can put me in a difficult or risky position, and damage my own integrity.
The best way out is to support my friend without lying which will help my friend to face the situation or stand by him or her emotionally. Friendship is not about covering up mistakes, it is about helping one another to grow.
