"SC-S31/W4-Movie Magic |Movies that challenge society (Pink)
Hello dear friends,
How are you all? I hope you are well. I am also fine by the grace of Allah. Today, I have come to participate in the second week of the Steemit Challenge SLC-S31/W.4, organized by the Honorable Host @ruthjoe ma'am. And I am eager to participate in and learn about cultural activities through worldwide movies, and I am proud to participate in this challenge.
The movie that speaks of injustice, challenging a norm or a culture
We have many films that challenge society, social order, and traditional reforms. Today, I will review one such film that challenges society and reforms. The film is called "Pink".
Pink is a film released in 2016, where women are prohibited from the perspective of society. From the perspective of society, women should not be involved in such work, but women like to do that work. The film challenges social reforms and the law. Today I am briefly discussing the film Pink that challenges that -
Minal, Falak, and Andrea are three friends who work together in a hostel and like to move freely.
Rajveer and Raunak meet through Vishwajyoti. The three people meet. They drink together. Laugh and joke, and at one point, they start behaving badly with women. Minal hits Rajveer on the head to save her honor. Rajiv is taken to the hospital.
After Rajiv recovers, he waits to take revenge. Meanwhile, the three women try to forget the events of the night. They try to forget the events of that night and move forward. But Rajbir's friends wait for an opportunity. One day, while on a morning walk, they kidnap Minal, molest her, threaten her in various ways, and throw her in front of her house the next day.
Not only that, they post provocative pictures of the three women on social media, showing them as prostitutes. Everything is done digitally. At the same time, they file a false case in Minal's name. In this situation, their lives become difficult, and it becomes difficult to get a job.
Due to being influential, the police arrest Minal and send her to jail. Rajbir was financially well-off and politically shadowed. Due to being influential, no one was willing to fight a legal battle against Rajbir.
A short clip of the movie "Pink"
In such a situation, an elderly lawyer named Deepak comes forward to fight. He was once a renowned and retired lawyer.
In the courtroom, Rajveer's lawyer, Prashant Mehra, presented the following account of the incident:
Rajveer and his friends met Minal and her friends at a rock concert. They invited the women to a resort for dinner, where they drank alcohol. The women teased the men, got intimate, and then demanded money, all of which indicated that they were prostitutes. When Rajveer refused to pay, an enraged Minal hit him on the head with a bottle and fled. Prashant's story portrayed the moral character of women in a derogatory manner.
Minal and her friends gave the following account of the incident:
The men tried to sexually assault them. When Rajveer tried to rape Minal, she attacked him with a bottle in self-defense.
Deepak listens to everything and values the right to say "no" above all else. His argument is that it may be wrong for a woman to sit in a bar and have drinks, it may be wrong to have dinner with a stranger, she may have done all the wrong things, but when she was being forcibly molested, she said "no". Minal has the full right to say "no".
Day after day, arguments continue to be exchanged. The court initially blames the women, but after they say "no", it rules that forcing them is wrong. The wise court releases the women and orders the arrest of Rajveer and his friends.
A new dimension is added to the film, and the rights of women are established, which was a great challenge for society.

What social issue did the movie highlight? |
|---|
The movie Pink has challenged society on women's rights. In our society, there are different unwritten rules for men and women. For example, a man can drink alcohol whenever he wants, spend time with whoever he wants, and spend the night outside until late at night. But when women try to do these things, they are humiliated in various ways, and they are called prostitutes.
Everyone is accustomed to these two types of policies in society, which are not desirable in any way. The new challenge that has been thrown in this movie is also women's rights. It is "no". This word means that no one can build any kind of relationship with a woman without her consent. It can be a friendship, it can be a physical relationship. In short, women's opinions have been given importance.
In the end, even the law has been forced to accept women's consent; that is, when a woman says "no", there is no relationship. It is not important whether the woman is a prostitute or a member of a decent family; the main thing is that she said "no". And the movie has been made with this problem in mind.
Did it change how you see this issue? |
|---|
I personally know how to respect women. I have learned to respect them; women are no longer helpless, they are working with equal talent along with men. And they are also successful, so why should they be corrupted in society? I am not in favor of corrupting women.
Then, when I watch this movie, my perspective changes even more. Especially the importance of the word "no" regarding the respect of women makes me think. My conscience stings because in our society, whenever I get a chance, I see women being disrespected. This movie has made me understand how to respect women, how to treat them. Such a wonderful movie that everyone in society should watch.
How is this theme discussed this week relevant today? |
|---|
Just as the topic of the fourth week of the 31st Challenge was new, the movie Pink was also exceptional. It is not always the case that such a film speaks out against the prevailing norms of society.
We are moving towards modernity with the times, but in some cases, our mentality still remains the same as in the ancient era. Especially, we have not been able to move forward in the respect of women, women's rights, and women's freedom. This film has drawn our attention in that direction. The film shows how we humiliate women, calling the girls of decent houses prostitutes for our own interests.
