The Movie I Watched

Dear Zindagi is a Bollywood movie starring Alia Bhatt as Kaira and Shah Rukh Khan as Dr. Jug. Kaira is a young cinematographer who seems to have everything — work, friends, talent. But inside she feels broken. She can’t sleep, she overthinks, her relationships keep failing, and she carries childhood hurt she never dealt with.

She meets Dr. Jug, a therapist who doesn’t give lectures. He gives her chai, life lessons, and makes her see the world differently. The movie is basically about healing, and learning that life isn’t perfect, it’s just “Dear Zindagi” — dear life.

The Character I Relate With: Kaira

Kaira is the character I relate with the most

Similarities - Struggles:

  1. Overthinking everything: Like Kaira, my mind also runs 100 thoughts at night. Even small things can feel heavy. I’ve also had nights where I’m tired but can’t sleep because my head won’t stop.
  2. Fear of being hurt again: She pushes people away before they can leave her. I’ve done that too. Sometimes we build walls to protect ourselves, but the walls end up trapping us.
  3. Searching for “perfect”: Kaira wants everything to be perfect — love, job, family. I used to think if one thing was wrong, my whole life was wrong.

Similarities - Strength:

  1. She keeps creating: Even when she’s sad, Kaira keeps working on films. I relate to that. When life is messy, I also try to stay busy and create something.
  2. She asks for help: The biggest strength was going to therapy. It takes courage to say “I’m not okay.” I’m learning that too.

Lessons I Learned From Kaira

  1. “We lose ourselves in the fear of losing others.” This line hit me hard. I realized I can’t control people, but I can control how I treat myself.
  2. Healing is not linear. Dr. Jug taught her that life is like patterns — some are messy, some are beautiful. You don’t have to fix everything in one day.
  3. It’s okay to feel. Crying, being confused, being angry — all of that is part of life. The movie taught me to sit with my feelings instead of running from them.

My favorite scene is when Dr. Jug tells her: “All relationships are like trains. Some are for a short journey, some are for long.” That changed how I look at friendships and heartbreaks.

Dear Zindagi didn’t give me magic solutions. It gave me permission to be human. And that’s why Kaira will always feel like me on screen.

That’s all from today's contest and I have tried to compiled all the task given in the contest. At the end I would like to invite @roohiasif99, @dasudi and @chant for the contest.

Best regards
