STEEM EVM Update: 288K Blocks, Growing EVM Activity & IBC UI Progress

The Steem Virtual Machine (SVM) continues its steady march toward a robust mainnet launch. Today, we have crossed 288,000 blocks, with the network maintaining perfect health and consistent performance. As we refine the user interface for IBC bridging, on-chain activity continues to grow, signaling strong interest from developers and testers.

Network Health & Statistics

The blockchain remains exceptionally stable, with all 12 validators producing blocks consistently. The slight increase in EVM-specific transactions indicates that more users are interacting directly with smart contracts, testing the Sherpa Protocol, and exploring the capabilities of the SVM.

Current Network Stats:

• Total Blocks Produced: 288,210+
• Total EVM Transactions: 1,110
• Registered EVM Addresses: 83
• Average Block Time: 6.7 seconds
• Active Validators: 12 (All Healthy)

The consistent 6.7-second block time demonstrates that our network latency optimizations are holding steady even as we add more geographic diversity to our validator set.

IBC UI Integration: Progress Report

As mentioned in my last post, I am actively working on integrating the IBC (Inter-Blockchain Communication) module directly into the SVM App.

Current Status:

• Backend: Fully functional and tested via CLI. Assets from Noble (USDC, EURC) and Osmosis can be bridged permissionlessly.
• Frontend: The UI components for selecting source chains, inputting amounts, and tracking transfer status are being wired up.
• Goal: To allow any user with a MetaMask wallet to bridge assets from the Cosmos ecosystem to SVM without writing a single line of code.

This feature will be a game-changer for capital efficiency on Steem, bringing high-quality stablecoins and Bitcoin-backed assets directly into the Sherpa Protocol ecosystem.
