To mark the occasion, I’m treating myself—and you—to a song today. As I mentioned earlier, we’re out and about for a few days, and that calls for the right musical accompaniment.
On a whim, I chose a classic that never really gets old and always feels fresh.
“On the Road Again” by Willie Nelson is more than just a song—it’s a feeling of freedom and adventure. From the very first seconds, the rhythm carries you away—that light, rolling tempo that almost sounds like a road trip: steady, relaxed, open to whatever comes next.
Willie Nelson sings about the joy of being on the road. And that applies not only in a geographical sense, but really to life as a whole. It’s about encounters and shared experiences, and the joy of occasionally plunging into the unknown.
Perhaps it’s also its simplicity that makes this song so special. No complicated thoughts, no heavy topics—just this clear, honest feeling: being on the road, being free, being alive. Maybe that’s exactly why the song is still so relevant today and still moves me time and time again.
In the end, it’s also a reminder that life doesn’t always need a destination. Sometimes it’s enough to just let go of everything again, set out, and finally be “on the road” once more.
And that holds true even if we do end up coming back home again quite soon. So let us enjoy everything that comes our way...

Passend zur Gelegenheit gönne ich mir und auch euch heute ein Lied. Wie ja bereits erwähnt, sind wir für ein paar Tage aus dem Haus und unterwegs, und da kann darf die richtige musikalische Begleitung nicht fehlen.
Ausgesucht habe ich ganz spontan einen Klassiker, der aber eigentlich nie alt wird und immer frisch bleibt.
„On the Road Again“ von Willie Nelson ist mehr als nur ein Song – es ist ein Gefühl von Freiheit und auch von Abenteuer. Schon nach den ersten Sekunden nimmt einen der Rhythmus mit - dieses leichte, rollende Tempo, das fast wie eine Autofahrt klingt: gleichmäßig, entspannt, offen für alles, was kommt.
Willie Nelson erzählt und singt von der Freude am Unterwegssein. Und das gilt nicht nur im geografischen Sinn, sondern eigentlich für das ganze Leben. Es geht um Begegnungen und um gemeinsame Erlebnisse, und um die Freude daran, sich auch mal ins Unbekannte zu stürzen.
Vielleicht ist es auch seine Einfachheit, die diesen Song so besonders macht. Keine komplizierten Gedanken, keine schweren Themen – nur dieses klare, ehrliche Gefühl: unterwegs sein, frei sein, lebendig sein. Am Ende ist es auch eine Erinnerung daran, dass das Leben nicht immer ein Ziel braucht. Manchmal reicht es, einfach mal wieder alles loszulassen und aufzumachen und endlich mal wieder „on the road“ zu sein.
Und das gilt auch dann, wenn man in bald wieder zurück nach Hause kommt. Also genießen wir besser all das, was uns gerade begegnet...
