Dear friends, I hope you are all well. I am also Alhamdulillah, by Allah's countless mercy, doing very well.

Hundreds of boats on the Shitalakshya River
Today I will post about the Shitalakshya River. The Shitalakshya River is an important river in Bangladesh. It flows through Narsingdi, Gazipur and Dhaka districts. The Shitalakshya River originates from the Brahmaputra River. It then joins the Dhaleshwari River near Kalagachhia in Narayanganj.

Three-fourths of our world is water and the rest is land. Water is a precious and important thing for us. For this reason, it can be said that the other name of water is life. There are many small and big rivers in our country. In Bangladesh, the main rivers are Padma, Meghna, Jamuna. There are also many other rivers.
The Shitalakshya River was once the commercial and cultural center of our country. From the Mughal period to the British rule, the Shitalakshya River was an important waterway. Textile mills and other industries were built on the banks of the river. The Shitalakshya River was famous for its coolness.
This river is used only for draining waste water from homes in Dhaka city. This river is very deep and wide. In this river, products of large factories such as furniture and clothing are exchanged through launches carrying various types of raw materials. Large launches ply on this river. In which you can go from Dhaka to the Kheyaghat of Narsingdi, Gazipur and Narayanganj. Previously, the beauty of the river was worth seeing.
Many people make a living by steam trawling on this river. It costs 20 taka to cross the river by boat here. And if someone wants to cross the river by trawler, then he has to pay 5 taka. Most people cross the river by trawler because it is very cheap. When my brother and I went to this Shitalakshya river. We went around in the boat for a while. To enjoy the natural beauty of the river.
There are two big schools on the other side of the Shitalakshya river. Through which thousands of students cross the river every day in these trawlers for 5 taka. There are bustling markets on both sides of this river. Where various kinds of things are available at low prices.

The people who live around this river. Most of them make their living around this river. Some make their living by driving boats, trawlers or launches on the river. Some make their living by collecting fish in the river. However, I have seen most of the people making their living by driving boats. There are thousands of boats on one side of this river. Which are tied up next to the ghat. If you want, you can travel the entire river in this boat. The boats are very beautiful to look at. Some boats have sails.

Many boats were seen floating on the banks of the Shitalaksha River
When the office and court are closed. School and college holidays are over. Then you can see the crowd of people in the trawlers and boats. Each trawler carries more people than necessary. People cross the river in a risky way. Many times accidents happen while crossing the river in a risky way. I captured all these scenes on my camera. I took pictures of the movement of people.
Currently, the Shitalakshya River is facing many environmental problems. Now the river water is getting polluted. The natural environment of the river is being damaged due to illegal encroachments. Thousands of factories built around the river are dumping their waste into the river. As a result, the animals living in the river are being harmed. The fish in this river are gradually becoming bored. Illegal structures have been built on the banks of the river. Which is obstructing the natural flow of the river. Due to the illegal dumping of plastic in the river, the animals living in the river are dying.

Several small boats and a large trawler were seen in the river
The Shitalakshya River is deeply connected with the history, culture and economy of Bangladesh. If the government of our country works on this river. Increases awareness in the society, then it is possible to restore this Shitalakshya River. It is important to take effective steps now to protect and restore the environment of the river. Otherwise, in a few days, this Shitalakshya River will disappear from our midst. I went to this river. I was sitting in the boats tied up beside the river. I talked to the people who live around this river. They told me about their lives. Their livelihood is not that easy. They live here with a lot of difficulty and earn a living.
