RE: True Colours 9: Curation & End Report Week 5 - February 2026
There are many truths to reflect on. I believe communities should be more welcoming, as some even seem intent on driving new users away. I say this from personal experience, admitting I made mistakes, but not intentionally. We need to treat people more as we would like to be treated, and create positive connections even if we don't like someone, at least when we're managing or moderating a community.
I think it’s good that you’ve mentioned that. Around 2024, it was much worse, and I’ve also noticed that these kinds of issues are still going on. I don’t know to what extent newcomers are still being guided; perhaps it’s also the case that newcomers are better off without guidance, after all, that’s how I started too, and you get to know your way around faster, as well as the communities where you are welcome. That’s how I see it, anyway: if I’m not welcome, I’m off and I’ll never return to this sort of community. And believe me, he said a lot of things that mean I’ll definitely never post anything there again.
Hehe, when I first landed on Steem and had my initial experiences, I thought everyone was a jerk, but in the end, I realized that not everyone is, and I came back. But now I understand how Trump won with the Latino vote, and that says it all 😂
I arrived here with a group after been asked for good writers for the platform.
I can tell you most left and went back to where we came from and were (and they still are) paid in euros.
I found it a very lonely journey and people being very selfish. No one took the time to explain anything, the just filled their wallets and most of them do the same.
Trump paid and the same they do here to receive votes and still people into forcing the average users in doing as the master wants. It kills all creativity and spontaneous behaviour, but as you can notice it does work. Always the same are everywhere in charge, always the same make a big income even if they never post something original, commit plagiarism, use AI and lie and cheat and upvote in circles, drain the pool, scam and ask for a ransom after they stole the key. All those people are still on Steemit and they receive still high upvotes. If you ask me that alone says enough.
Sometimes I lose all faith in humanity. There are people who don't even want to share what they receive for free, and that makes me sad. There's too much corruption in my country, and then to find that the same thing happens even in the virtual world is depressing.
I can't even say I lost trust in humanity. I doubt I eve trusted in the first place. It is most likely stubborn me searching for some proof that I am wrong. .I agree it is depressing and I also admit I do not understand why people are so damn greedy. I assume it's a lie that it makes happy to give to others even if you didn't have to spend your money on it.
Who knows it feels like a sport to abuse and scam?
Don't let this get you down, stay away from the bad vibes.
❤️🍀
I always thought I was very cynical, but in the end, I'm just a naive fool who believes people aren't mean on purpose, even though I get stabbed in the back by people I've helped. Still, if it's within my power to help, I would. Although it never ceases to bother me when people abuse the system in real life or in the virtual world, I find it hard to accept, haha. I think I should read more pleasant things and stop overthinking.
Is it overthinking or realistic? A bit more fun would do good. You can read a detective for sure they are realistic too.
Take care of yourself first, pamper yourself and if there's anything left after you saved for the rainy day (energy, good will, food, money) you can give others a hand.
That's really good advice! Thank you! I hope you're having a wonderful weekend, even though it's almost over!
