The Diary Game: The Quiet Walk To The Keke Park And The Peace That Comes With Early Mornings [17/06/2026]

Good day everyone and welcome to another episode of my diary session with yours truly, @phantomblog. Today I want to take you through my morning , from the moment I stepped out of my house to the moment I arrived at work. It was an ordinary morning. But as I have come to learn, ordinary mornings have extraordinary stories hidden inside them.

Starting The Day

This morning I woke up, freshened up and got myself ready for another day at the factory. Before stepping out I stood at my door for a moment , just breathing, just being present. There is something about the morning that feels like a fresh page. Whatever happened yesterday is gone. Today is a new opportunity.

The Street Before The World Wakes Up

As I stepped out and began my walk the first thing that struck me was how quiet my street was. The sky was still that heavy grey colour, almost like the clouds had not decided what kind of day they wanted to give us yet. The street was empty. No noise. No chaos. Just the sound of my footsteps on the ground and the distant crow of a rooster somewhere nearby. This is the Nigeria people outside never see. Not the loud bustling version. But the quiet, still, early morning version that belongs only to those of us who rise before the rest of the world.

The Keke Park

By the time I reached the keke park things were starting to come alive. Drivers were already positioned, their yellow and green keke napep lined up and ready for the morning rush. Trucks and vehicles were already moving on the main road, each one carrying someone's livelihood somewhere. I found my keke, settled in and let the morning breeze do the rest. There is something deeply Nigerian about a keke park in the morning. Everyone there is going somewhere with purpose. Nobody is wandering. Everybody has a destination. Everybody has a reason to be up this early. And that energy, that quiet collective determination, always gives me a boost.

Arriving At Work

And then I arrived at the factory. Another day begins. I will not say factory work is glamorous. It is not. It is long hours, physical effort and the kind of tiredness that settles into your bones by the end of the day. But I show up. Every single day I show up. Because I understand something now that I did not always understand, showing up consistently is itself a form of success. Not everyone can do it. Not everyone does.

What This Morning Taught Me

As I settled into my work station today I thought about the journey it took to get here. The quiet street. The misty morning sky. The keke park buzzing to life. The road stretching ahead. Every step of that journey was a reminder that life is not about grand moments. It is about small faithful steps taken every single day. Wake up. Step out. Keep moving. Show up. This is how my journey to work was. Thank you for reading it. Until my next episode, stay peaceful and keep pushing! @phantomblog
