I would like to express my sincere gratitude to @adeljose and @kibreay001 brothers for giving me the opportunity to participate in this wonderful event of the second week of Steemit Challenge Season 31. Based on this week's topic Pharmacy & Hospital, I am presenting my report on a Super specialized hospital BMU in the light of my real experience. For this competitive post, I have chosen for my post the Bangladesh Medical University, one of the most modern healthcare centers in South Asia, located in Shahbagh, Dhaka. It is a unique milestone in the medical history of Bangladesh and the first autonomous specialized hospital in the country. Directly managed by the former BSMMU authorities, this institution is basically a wonderful combination of government sponsorship and autonomous structure. Due to its advanced infrastructure and modern digital management, it has now become a reliable name of trust among the common people of the country.

✅What type of service location did you visit? Briefly describe it.

I recently visited the Super Specialized Hospital located in Shahbagh, Dhaka. This is the first autonomous specialized hospital in Bangladesh. It is basically a higher medical and research center run by a combination of government and autonomous structures. The hospital is fully managed digitally and is known as one of the most modern healthcare centers in South Asia. Here, you can get services from various associate professors of your choice in the general outpatient department, along with services, there are state-of-the-art treatment facilities for complex operations such as liver and kidney transplants. With the presence of modern infrastructure, advanced technology and expert doctors, it has now become a reliable one-stop medical hub in the country. It is a joint production of Kunming Medical University of China and Bangladesh Medical University, where various complex operations and training are conducted.

This management department is the main center for maintaining the administrative and structural discipline of the hospital. The officers of this department are working tirelessly to ensure proper planning, cleanliness and improved services, the reflection of which is seen in every corner of the hospital.

This ticket counter is the initial step to see a specialist doctor in the hospital's outpatient department (OPD). To reduce the suffering of patients, an orderly arrangement has been made to collect tickets here. The location of the counter has been kept in such a way that patients can easily find it upon entering. These booths, surrounded by transparent glass, complete the registration to see the doctor of their choice very quickly, which reduces the hassle of long lines and saves the time of patients. Due to advanced management, the entire process is quite easy. If there is any complication in buying tickets, you can sit down and rest.

As soon as you enter the hospital, you will see this very well-equipped and organized information desk. There are staff on duty here round the clock to help patients who come for services and provide accurate information. The surface of the desk is clean, as is the environment around it. This desk basically acts as a central guide so that no new patient or visitor gets confused, which conveys the impression of professionalism of the entire hospital.

As soon as you enter the hospital, you will see a large and modern pharmacy on the right side. Keeping in mind the convenience of the patients, a huge collection of all the necessary medicines, both domestic and foreign, has been kept here. The biggest advantage of this is that patients do not need to go anywhere outside the hospital for medicines and each medicine is available at a very reasonable price. In addition, in line with the times, there is a system of paying bills through cash, debit/credit cards and digital payments.

This OPD (Outpatient Department) on the second floor is very effective in ensuring the health of women and children. Experienced doctors regularly see patients here. The spacious design of the entrance and clear directions create a comfortable environment for mothers and children coming for services.

This center specializes in the immediate treatment of complex and urgent problems such as heart disease and stroke. Equipped with modern medical equipment and skilled manpower, this department is committed to providing life-saving services. It ensures that patients suffering from heart or brain complications receive world-class treatment and surgery.

There are modern ICU facilities for neonatal and pediatric intensive care. These two highly sensitive departments work 24 hours a day to save the lives of children using advanced technology. The strictly sterile environment here plays a special role in the speedy recovery of children.

A modern automated vending machine has been installed behind the help desk on the ground floor of the hospital for the convenience of the relatives of the patients and the visitors. Through this service called 'Your Shop', one can easily collect emergency light food or drinks. There is also a modern and clean canteen. It plays a great role in meeting the demand for quality food during a long stay in the hospital. The good seating arrangement and hygienic environment here make the meal time comfortable. It is an ideal place for quick snacks and drinks along with nutritious food. With such a well-organized canteen facility inside the hospital, the relatives do not have to worry about food.

This hospital has a well-equipped trauma treatment room for immediate treatment of any emergency accident or physical injury. Every part, from the corridor to the nurse station, is very well planned, so that patients can be provided with quick service in an emergency. A modern nurse station and beds for intensive monitoring, which indicate the presence of high-quality medical equipment. The calm and orderly environment of this department helps the patients to overcome the initial stress.

The hospital has its own banking booth facility to ensure administrative transparency. Patients have to deposit the fee for any pathological test or radiology test directly at this bank counter and collect the digital slip. By going to the concerned department with this slip, quick service is available. This system ensures financial transparency and stops the exploitation of middlemen, ensuring quality tests at the right price for patients.

It is very important to ensure quick and easy movement of patients and doctors inside a huge hospital. For this purpose, about 20 modern elevators have been installed here, which ensure smooth movement of patients to each floor of this multi-storey building. Along with the elevators, there are wide stairs and modern escalators (moving stairs), which are usually seen in large corporate institutions or shopping malls. With such advanced transportation system, elderly patients or doctors in case of emergency do not have to rush to go from one floor to another. This modern infrastructure of the hospital is essentially an integral part of improved patient service.

✅Type of work & Workers’ lifestyle

The nature of work in a super-specialized hospital is highly clinical, administrative and research-based. As a ‘center of excellence’, it provides advanced medical services such as organ transplants (liver and kidney), complex cardiovascular surgeries and neuro-interventions. The doctors here are simultaneously engaged in Outpatient Department (OPD) consultations, Inpatient Department (IPD) services and long-term surgical procedures. The administrative staff works in a completely digital and paperless environment, where everything from registration to billing and digital medical record management through bank booths is done with utmost transparency.

The lifestyle of the healthcare workers here, including specialist doctors, nurses and technicians, is very busy and responsible. They usually work in different shifts to ensure 24-hour uninterrupted service to the patients. Since it is an autonomous institution, everyone gets a fee fixed by the Bangladesh government. The day of the surgeons and specialists starts with ward rounds, followed by a long time spent in the state-of-the-art Operation Theatre (OT). Despite the high-pressure work environment, the hospital's modern infrastructure ensures a professional environment for them. Many doctors are also involved in medical research and training and academic work to produce the next generation of specialized doctors, in addition to clinical duties.

The first thing that will impress anyone upon entering the premises of the super specialized hospital is its incredibly beautiful environment. The cleanliness and modernity of both the inside and outside of the hospital do not seem like a hospital in Bangladesh; rather, it gives the feeling of an advanced medical center abroad.

Starting from the entrance of the hospital, the open space around it is very well planned. There are beautiful gardens surrounded by greenery on both sides of the hospital and comfortable resting places for visitors. From the outside, it looks more like a well-groomed park than a hospital. In addition, there is a large and orderly car parking facility for patients and relatives coming here, which is a great relief in the busiest area of ​​Dhaka.

As soon as you step inside the hospital, you will notice its 'neat and clean' or sparkling environment. Modern lighting, spacious waiting lounges and air-conditioned facilities ensure peace of mind for patients. Every floor of the hospital has beautiful flowering plants and modern interior design, which brings a natural softness to the mechanical hospital environment. Advanced waste management and round-the-clock cleaning activities ensure that there is no foul smell or unhygienic environment.

Overall, the pleasant environment of this hospital has a great positive impact on the speedy recovery of patients and reducing the anxiety of relatives. This is truly a unique example of modernization of the healthcare sector in Bangladesh.
