SLC33-W2 || Our Surroundings: Let´s Talk About The News // Important business news from your region
Has any business or establishment opened or closed in your region? What is its name? What do you think about it?
I recently visited the Grameen & Cottage Industry Fair at Fair Park Ground, Saidpur Cantonment. The entry fee was only 20 BDT.
Among all the stalls, the largest and most impressive one was Hasan Market. Although it is a temporary marketplace established during the fair, it attracted a huge number of visitors every day.
I think this kind of business initiative is very beneficial because it provides a great opportunity for small and medium-sized traders to promote and sell their products to a large number of customers within a short period.

What products are currently on sale in your region? How can this benefit the community?
Hasan Market offered a wide variety of products, including:
- Jewelry
- Ladies' handbags and purses
- Bangles
- Cosmetics
- Toys
- Dolls
- Fashion accessories
- Decorative items
Some products had fixed prices, while others allowed bargaining.
I believe this kind of marketplace benefits the community because it brings many products together under one roof. Customers can compare prices, enjoy shopping, and support local businesses.
It also creates temporary employment opportunities and helps small entrepreneurs increase their sales during the fair.

What products do you want to buy right now? How much do they cost? Why do you want to buy them?
I personally did not buy anything from the fair, but my mother purchased several items.
She bought:
- 12 silk bangles for 100 BDT
- 8 premium-quality bangles for 400 BDT
- A pearl necklace with matching earrings for 150 BDT
I also liked several handbags and decorative accessories displayed in the market. Although I didn't purchase anything, I enjoyed exploring the products and checking their prices.

What kind of store or business do you think your region needs? How would it benefit the community?
In my opinion, Saidpur would benefit from having a permanent handicraft and traditional products marketplace instead of depending only on seasonal fairs.
Such a marketplace would allow local artisans and small business owners to sell their handmade products throughout the year.
It would also attract tourists, preserve local culture, create employment opportunities, and strengthen the local economy.

How has the adoption of cryptocurrencies been in businesses or establishments in your region?
As far as I observed, none of the shops at the fair accepted cryptocurrency as a payment method. Most vendors accepted cash and mobile banking services such as bKash, Nagad, and Rocket.
At present, cryptocurrency has not yet been adopted by local businesses in my region. However, if it becomes legally accepted in the future, it could provide another convenient digital payment option for both customers and business owners.

Environmental Impact & My Personal Experience
The most interesting feature of Hasan Market for me was the narrow walkway running through the middle of the connected shops. Walking through this passage felt much more enjoyable than walking along the crowded outer road. All the shops were connected together, making the marketplace look like one large shopping complex. I believe they were either operated by the same owner or managed as a combined business.
Compared to other stalls at the fair, Hasan Market attracted significantly more visitors. The crowd became even larger after sunset, creating a lively shopping atmosphere.
Overall, the environment was clean and well-organized despite the large number of visitors. I really enjoyed spending time there, exploring different products, and observing the busy marketplace. In my opinion, anyone visiting the fair should definitely take some time to explore Hasan Market because it offers a wide variety of products and a unique shopping experience.
