Sport unites people together, especially football games, where you will find the gathering of men. I visited a sports competition in my community.
What recent social and/or cultural events have taken place in your community?
There are a lot of social and cultural events that have taken place in my community, and the one I was able to attend was the football competition between Gimare youths and students staying in the community. It was more like a friendly football game than a uniting people event, and during the football competition, people,g ladies were gathered to watch the game, and everyone was busy cheering their team.
While the game was going on, music was playing in the background to entertain viewers who gathered to watch the game. It is an interesting game, like I said, and the game unites people together, as the people who attend the game were mostly students.
What cultural initiatives are being promoted by community or government organizations in your area for the coming months?
The cultural initiatives that are being promoted by the community in my area for the coming months are: Madam cultural activities which would take place in August, and the Eggon cultural and traditional dances, which are also going to take place in August. All these cultural events are usually sponsored by the government and community. It is an event that unites people from different places.
Also, there is going to be a football competition at the end of August, and the competition will be between final-year students of the Federal University of Lafia.
What challenges are cultural event organizers currently facing in keeping local traditions alive?
I think the challenges that cultural event organisers are currently facing in keeping local traditions alive are: an event centre where cultural activities would take place and where a multitude of people can stay. My community lacks an event centre; the one that is in my community is very small and cannot contain a large number of people in my community.
What social or grassroots movements are gaining prominence in the streets of your city or region?
Football and snooker games are the social movements that are gaining prominence in my street. As you can see, the football field that I visited is located along my street, where there are other football field like the one I just visited. People in my area are investing seriously in football, where people can gather and play football because the movement of football is fast rising.
Could you mention any recent artistic works or projects in your region that might be of public interest?
Honestly, I have no idea of any recent artistic works or projects in my region that might be of public interest. However, if I am to talk, then I will suggest the development of a mini football field like the one I visited.

The environment is conducive, but the problem with the environment is that the it is small and not big. The environment cannot contain multitudes of people both inside and outside the field, which often makes the place so crowded that people would be seen blocking the road.
This place is located on Gimare Street in Lafia town, and the street is the street that leads to the Federal University of Lafia in Nasarawa State, which is along Makurdi Road.
