Education is very important in every community, and it is what gives hope to the common people. In my community, we have several educational centre which I was fortunate to visit a boarding school.

What changes have you observed in the educational infrastructure in your community in recent months?

In recent months, I have observed calmness and emptiness in the educational infrastructure in my community. The reason is that schools in the community and Nigeria as a whole are on holiday. All nursery, primary, and secondary schools in Nigeria have gone on holiday, which has made the school environment empty and calm.

Classrooms are locked since students have gone on holiday; school management has locked classrooms to prevent people from entering the school to steal. Ola Girls School is the educational infrastructure that I visited in my community. At the time I went to the school, I met a small boy whose father is the gateman playing inside the school environment.

What initiatives have been promoted to improve inclusion and equity in student admissions at educational institutions in your community?

It was just last month that this school wrote its entrance examination to admit new students into the school. The school will start processing its admission list for new students this month, and the new session will commence in September, and my younger sister is also part of those who wrote the school entrance examination.

Recently, the school ICT centre was used for JAMB registration, and people from my community and other communities visited the school to process their JAMB registration. The school has quality ICT facilities, which is the reason the school was used as a centre for JAMB registration.

What are the graduation plans for this year’s students? What have the graduation celebrations been like in your region?

My cousin graduated from this school last week. Before this engagement challenge, the school had already done its graduation party, which I went to the school to celebrate with my cousin who graduated from the school. She has completed her SSCE examination, and the school organised her graduation party for students last Wednesday.

Since the school is a missionary school that is only for female students, parents and loved ones were only allowed to enter the school on the day of graduation, when they were seen with their loved ones celebrating, eating cakes and drinking minerals.

How has technology impacted teaching practices at local schools? Are there online classes?

In terms of technology, the school is trying to have stable ICT facilities where online classes can be held. Currently, there are no online classes organised in the school. Every class in the school is an offline class where students are seated in the school room listening to their teachers.

Has the study of the cryptocurrency market been integrated into education in your region or community? How have students responded to this topic?

No, ooh, the study of the cryptocurrency market has not been integrated into education in my community because this is a secondary school that is still using an old syllabus in teaching.

I believe most of the students have no idea about what cryptocurrency is. The school can't just include the teaching of cryptocurrency in its syllabus without approval from the government through the Ministry and Commissioner of Education.

As of the time that I visited the school, the environment is looking very dry and empty because all the students and teachers have gone for holidays, which is the best time to renovate the school if the management wants to. The environment is looking mudy which during the rainy season, water can be found in the holes, thereby making the ground slippery.

The buildings are looking old, and some are showing cracks and can become a disaster if proper care is not taken because they can collapse, and students and teachers may become victims when such an incident happens.
