cat's eye macros (behind the photo)
I did a macro photosession with my cat a few days ago -- enjoy the results, and a little story behind it.
All images taken by me, with Canon 5D +Sigma 150mm macro-tele
у меня был наказ от друга-фотографа, требование, если угодно: взглянуть в глаза моей кошки. последнее время солнце иногда заглядывает ко мне в окно, и пару дней назад я этим воспользовался: заманил кошку на диван, навинтил макрообъектив и подумал: сейчас сделаю 2-3 кадра, выберу лучший, и миссия выполнена. как бы не так!
I had a mandate from my friend photographer, a requirement, if you would like to call it so: to look at my cat's eye. Recently the sun looks at my window more and more, so one day I took advantage of it. I lured the cat onto sofa, equipped my camera with a macro lens and thought: I’ll quickly take 2-3 frames, choose the best one, and the mission is completed. haha, nothing like that!
основная проблема в том, что когда ей хорошо, она предпочитает закрывать глаза, или зажмуриваться, и даже когда смотрит открытыми глазами, то все время вертит головой, а когда не расслаблена, то вовсе не сидит на месте... и даже если спокойно лежит, то по закону Мерфи -- норовит лечь мордой против света.
The main problem is that like any other cat, she prefers to have her eyes closed when she's fine, or half-closed; and even if her eyes are open, she turns her head all the time; and when she is not relaxed, she does not sit still at all ... and even if she's relaxed (according to Murphy’s law) she always strives to lie in the contra-light position!
кошка сворачивалась калачиком, иногда приоткрывала глаза в ответ на моё отчаянное: "кис-кис-кис!" - но прекрасных макро-кадров мне не дарила... нужен был другой угол съемки. тогда я взгромоздил на диван стул, переместил на него кошку со всем почтением и уговорил остаться...
The cat curled up, sometimes it opened its eyes in response to my desperate: "kitty-kitty-kitty!" - but didn’t provide me any beautiful macro shots ... Obviously, I needed a different shooting angle. So, I piled a chair on the sofa, moved the cat on it with all my respect, and persuaded to stay there.
разумеется, кошка улеглась ко мне попой... часть вторая прошла в попытках развернуть кошку лицом к свету. как со всей очевидностью видно на фотографиях, нету света - нету и макро.
Of course, the cat settled down to me ... part two was in an attempt to turn the cat face to the light. as can be clearly seen in the photographs, there is no light - there is no macro.
I thought I can go with ears, too. The art of possible!
A macro of the ears (a sudden by-product! my wife said she's especially happy with this one). Better to watch in hi-res (clickable).
наконец, мне это удалось, я развернул ее в направлении окна, и после еще трёх дюжин судорожных кис-кис-кисов, щекотания подбородка и пассов рукой перед мордой, я получил искомое.
Finally, I succeeded. I turned her face to the window, and... three dozen more convulsive pussycats, tickling her chin and passes with my hand in front of her face, I got what I was looking for.
...closer... almost there!
and the final one: mission completed!

I really like the ears shot an shot #1 after cover image. not very happy with eye macros -- they could be better. not perfect. 2:1 or 4:1 would do the job... probably. but thisis left to the future!
