Where is this place located?
This place is located in the old market area of Parbatipur town, which is widely known as the Rice Market (Dhan Hati). It is a very familiar place for local people. If anyone comes to Parbatipur and asks for the old market rice market, any rickshaw or van driver can easily show the way. It is also possible to walk there from many parts of the town.
The market becomes very busy twice a week, mainly on Saturday and Tuesday. On these two days, farmers, traders, and workers gather here for buying and selling rice. The nearby old market also becomes active on these market days, creating a lively atmosphere.

Who are the people featured in your photographs and what are they doing?
The people in my photographs are mainly laborers who work in the rice market. In our area, they are commonly known as laborers, although different people may call them by different names.
These workers usually work together as a team and earn money through their hard work. Their income helps them support their families and meet daily needs. During my visit, I saw that everyone had a specific responsibility. Some workers were weighing rice, some were filling sacks, and others were loading the sacks onto vehicles for transportation.
Their teamwork makes the entire market operation run smoothly.

How do these people contribute to the local community or economy?
These laborers play an important role in the local community and economy. Their work supports the rice trade, which is one of the major agricultural activities in our area.
Through their hard work, rice can be collected, processed, transported, and sold efficiently. This not only helps farmers and traders but also supports food production and distribution. Many families depend on this work as their main source of income.
Their contribution strengthens the local economy and helps ensure a stable food supply for people across the region.

What did you learn or observe while spending time in this place?
Spending time in this market taught me many valuable lessons. I realized how hard these workers work every day to earn a living. Their earnings are used to support their families and fulfill basic needs.
Most of them do not have the luxury of choosing easy work. They take whatever work is available to provide for their loved ones. Today they may be working in the rice market, and on other days they may work in jute markets, sugarcane fields, construction sites, or other labor-intensive jobs.
Their determination and dedication impressed me. Their main goal is simple to earn an honest income and provide a better life for their families.

What story or emotion do you think your photographs convey about everyday life?
I believe these photographs tell the story of hard work, responsibility, and everyday life in a farming-based community. The images show different people performing different roles—farmers, traders, transport workers, and laborers. Each person contributes to the process in their own way.
The rice market is not only a place for buying and selling crops; it is also a place where many people earn their livelihoods. Some workers come from nearby villages and even distant areas whenever work is available.
Since this market operates mainly two days a week, these days are very important for many families. Through my photographs, I wanted to capture the connection between farmers, workers, and traders, and show how their combined efforts keep the local economy moving forward.
