The Diary Game: (17/07/2026) A Blessed Friday Filled with Learning and Worship

I'm happy to share how I spent my Friday, a day that always feels different from the rest of the week because of its special place in Islam. It was a day filled with worship, teaching, and meaningful interactions with my students.
Starting the Day with Worship
I woke up early this morning before sunrise, feeling grateful for another opportunity to witness a new day. After performing my Fajr prayer, I spent some quiet time reciting Surah Al-Kahf, something I always try to do on Fridays. The peaceful atmosphere of the early morning made it easier to reflect on the verses without distractions.
As I recited, I found myself thinking about the lessons in the chapter, patience, trust in Allah, and the importance of remaining steadfast in faith despite life's challenges. Beginning the day this way gave me a sense of calm that stayed with me throughout the rest of the day.

Preparing for the Day
After completing my morning routine, I had breakfast and spent a little time organizing the materials I would need for my private lesson. I like to prepare ahead because it helps the class flow smoothly, and it also allows me to give my students the attention they deserve.
Teaching has taught me that every learner is different. Some understand new ideas quickly, while others need more time and encouragement. Keeping that in mind helps me stay patient and appreciate every small improvement they make.

Private English Class
Later in the day, my students arrived for their private lesson. We focused on improving their English reading and writing skills. We practiced reading simple passages together, worked on pronunciation, and spent time writing sentences correctly.
One thing I enjoy most about teaching is watching my students become more confident. Sometimes a child who struggles with reading at the beginning of the lesson is smiling by the end because they finally understand something that once seemed difficult. Those moments remind me why I enjoy teaching so much.
The class was interactive, and I encouraged them to ask questions whenever they were unsure. I believe learning becomes much easier when students feel comfortable enough to speak up.

The Blessings of Friday
Since it was Friday, I also made time to prepare for Jumu'ah prayer. Fridays always bring a unique atmosphere as Muslims gather in large numbers to worship together. Seeing people from different backgrounds standing shoulder to shoulder in prayer is always a beautiful reminder of unity and equality before Allah.
The sermon contained valuable reminders about sincerity, good character, and making the best use of our time. I left the mosque feeling refreshed and motivated to put those lessons into practice.

Teaching Qur'an at the mosque
As night approached, I headed to the mosque for my Qur'an lesson. Teaching children the Qur'an has become one of the most rewarding parts of my routine. Although it sometimes requires a great deal of patience, seeing the children gradually improve in their recitation makes every effort worthwhile.
During today's class, we revised previous lessons before introducing new verses. Some students needed extra guidance with pronunciation, so I spent additional time helping them repeat the words until they became more comfortable. I always remind them that learning the Qur'an is a journey, and improvement comes through consistent practice rather than rushing.
Watching the students try their best reminded me that every expert was once a beginner. Their determination encourages me to continue giving my best as a teacher.

Ending the Day with Gratitude
By the time I returned home, I felt physically tired but spiritually fulfilled. Looking back on the day, I realized that most of my time had been spent either learning, teaching, or worshipping. I couldn't ask for a more meaningful way to spend a Friday.
Teaching both English and the Qur'an allows me to contribute to my community in different ways. One helps students build skills for everyday life, while the other nurtures their spiritual growth. I consider it a privilege to play a small role in both.
Every Friday reminds me that success isn't measured only by how busy we are but also by how we spend our time. A day devoted to worship, sharing knowledge, and helping others always leaves the heart feeling lighter and more content.
