Siri Paye & Beetroot: My Grandma's Winter Strength Food @ijazahmed

This bowl in front of me is not restaurant food. It's pure village-style comfort from Jand, Punjab.
In the big metal bowl, you can see Siri Paye - boiled goat head, trotters, and brain in a light, clear broth. On the side plate are fresh slices of beetroot, deep red and cold. That's how we eat it at home during winter.
My grandma calls it "Jan ka khana" - food for life. When the weather gets cold, the whole family sits together for this. No masala-heavy gravy, no frying. Just meat, bones, water, salt, black pepper, and hours of slow cooking. The broth turns rich and cloudy, and the meat becomes so soft it falls off the bone.

The best part is how we eat it. Sit on the floor, tear roti, dip it in the hot broth, and pick the soft brain with your fingers. No spoon, no rules. Just family, laughter, and steam rising from the bowl.
Do you like paya ?
