The Dairy Game: 6th July 2026: Hair Day.

Hey, boo-boo.🥰Good evening.💓

So, today was my hair day. The first thing I did after waking up was say my prayers. Then I went to the bathroom to brush my teeth, and after brushing them, I headed straight to the kitchen to prepare breakfast. Once I finished making it, I sat down and enjoyed my meal.

Later, when it was bright enough outside, I decided to spread the clothes I had washed yesterday. It had rained earlier, so there wasn’t much sunshine for them to dry properly, but I still spread them out and then went back inside the house.

After that, I had my bath and got myself ready to go to the salon to get my hair braided.

Before getting there, I was honestly still a little upset because my regular hairstylist, the one who truly understands my hair, disappointed me. I had booked an appointment with her the day before, but when it was time for my appointment, she wasn’t available. I was really looking forward to having her braid my hair because she knows exactly how to handle my hair texture. Since she wasn’t available, I decided to give another stylist a chance.

When I arrived at the salon, I explained my hair texture to the new stylist. I told her how easily my hair gets rough and that I wanted a hairstyle that would last. She assured me there wouldn’t be any problem and that she knew exactly what to do.

She then asked me to comb my hair. I usually go to the salon with my own comb and pick comb because I don’t like using other people’s combs. I’ve had experiences with getting lice before, so I prefer using my personal combs for hygiene reasons.

As we were about to start, she looked at my comb and said it was dirty and that I should wash it. Honestly, I felt really hurt by the way she said it. I immediately thought to myself, “Is this really how you speak to your customer? Not just any customer, but a first-time customer?”

She sounded quite rude, so I confronted her politely. She immediately apologized, took my comb outside, washed it herself, and brought it back.

As she continued braiding my hair, she brought up the issue again and sincerely apologized. She explained that someone had upset her earlier, and because that person was around, she reacted the way she did to me. She admitted that it wasn’t fair and asked me to forgive her.

I told her it was okay, and as time went on, everything became much better. We started talking, laughing, teasing each other, and just vibing. Before I knew it, the awkwardness disappeared, and we became really friendly. I actually ended up enjoying her company. She kept making jokes and trying to cheer me up because she noticed I had been a little upset earlier.

The only thing that stressed me was how long the hair took. It wasn’t even a tiny braid or a very complicated style, so I honestly expected it to be much faster. But I spent over four hours there, if not more. I became so tired and restless because I still had somewhere else I needed to go before returning home.

While I was waiting, someone brought freshly harvested cucumbers for the stylist to buy and resell. They looked so fresh, green, and attractive. Another customer bought one to eat with the fried groundnuts the stylist sells, and seeing how fresh they looked, I couldn’t resist. I bought one too and enjoyed eating it while my hair was being braided. It actually helped me pass the time.

When everything was finally done, she calculated the total amount I spent. Altogether, I spent ₦13,400, including the attachment I bought and the little snacks I had while waiting.

After leaving the salon, I wanted to visit a café to print out some pictures. Since I wasn’t familiar with the area, I asked the stylist to direct me to a place where I could print them.

The pictures I wanted to print were some beautiful designs I found on Pinterest because I want to use them to decorate and beautify my room. So I went to the café, printed everything I needed, and then headed straight home.

As soon as I got home, I went outside to pack the clothes I had spread earlier. Thankfully, they were completely dry. I took them inside, changed out of my clothes, and had another refreshing bath.

After my bath, I prepared dinner. I already had some afang soup in the fridge, so all I needed to do was make fresh eba to eat with it. Once it was ready, I enjoyed my dinner.

Of course, I drank plenty of water afterward because water is life, and I genuinely love staying hydrated.

Later in the evening, one of my friends called to tell me she would be coming to visit me tomorrow. That phone call honestly made my day because I’ve been feeling like such a lonely girl lately. Knowing that someone was coming to spend time with me really cheered me up.

After the call, I spent some time pressing my phone, scrolling through different things until I started feeling sleepy. Once I noticed I was dozing off, I decided to call it a night and get some rest.

And that was how my day went.

Bye, boo-boo. I love you. ❤️
