Shahbagh Metrorail Station is one of the most important stations on Line-6 ​​of Dhaka Metro Rail. It is located at the very busy and traditional Shahbagh intersection of Dhaka. The geographical importance of this station is immense; because it is surrounded by top medical centers like PG Hospital (BSMMU) and BIRDEM. In addition, the Shahbagh area has become a major hub for passenger travel as it is the meeting point or center of important places like National Museum, Intercontinental Hotel, Shishu Park and Ramna Park. With the opening of this station, the long-standing suffering of students, patients and tourists from traffic jams has been eliminated and travel has now become much easier and more comfortable. There are state-of-the-art escalators and elevators for the convenience of passengers. The elevator service is open round the clock, especially for the elderly, sick and people with special needs. There is an automatic 'ticket vending machine' for purchasing tickets at Shahbagh station. Here, passengers can select their destination and collect their tickets by paying money. In particular, traveling from Shahbagh to Uttara, which used to take 2-3 hours, now it is possible to do so in just 20-25 minutes through the metro.
