Phobia Definition: |
|---|
Before moving to the main aim of this task I would like to clarify the meaning of phobia and here it is different from fear with its common types.
Phobia is the continuous, intense fear of something or from something that becomes very severe and starts to impact the social life. In reality, it is not the real danger that harms life. The difference between phobia and fear is the danger. Fear may be due to something dangerous in reality but phobia may not. It is fear of non danger conditions.
| Types of Phobia |
|---|
- Specific Phobia 🌊: It is the fear of a particular object or situation due to lack of experience from that object. Examples: Acrophobia – fear of heights, Claustrophobia – fear of closed spaces, Arachnophobia – fear of spiders, Aerophobia – fear of flying, Trypanophobia – fear of injections.
- Social Phobia 🌊: I think this is the most common phobia that teenagers and young people have. Whenever they visit public places. They are afraid of being judged by their surroundings for their outfit and outlook.
Yoga Exercise Video: |
|---|
To experience the real worth of yoga exercises, I practiced it various times and my practical performance and feeling have shown below.
My Thoughts on Exercise: |
|---|
- Mental Clarity: When clean air enters into the body and then it reaches my brain. The freshness and coldness of oxygen leads me toward mental clarity and I felt a notable change in my thinking. With the player of achievement it lead me to think more clearly and logically.
- Self-Confidance Boost: At the end of each session I started to feel more confident as if I have completed some important task. This is quite psychological but other reasons to feel self confidence boost were my clear thinking and satisfaction of mind.
- Increased Flexibility: Definitely yoga is a physical activity and it is the physical activity which usually people perform after getting up early in the morning and like every of the individuals who perform or practice yoga early in the morning I also started to feel more flexible and for some movement my gestures were changed and felt me more flexible and fast. The practice of Sukhasana especially helped me to feel more flexible.
- Breathe Control: Breathing exercise during yoga helped me to control my mind, fears and phobias because during these conditions we normally start to feel aroused in breath and breathing exercise helps me to control it. And if someone controls the rate of breathing during phobia, he will definitely overcome his unusual fear.
- Happy & Satisfied: One of the greatest blessing that I felt at the end of each session was happiness with satisfaction. I was happy with the satisfaction of learning and achieving something new that I never practiced before in my life. This is psychological but this helps us a lot to recover our mental and psychological issues. And therefore I was very happy and satisfied..

My on Walking in Nature: |
|---|
🧠 Mental noise drops: Wondering in the field give me an experience of mental noise drop. I felt as if my mind has been calm. There were no traffic sirens, sound off electronic devices are the noise of vehicles. I was with ab by from troubling environment and had entered myself into a clean and noise free environment. Only the sound of birds charming can be heard into the video around me.
🌬️ Breathing normalizes: Standing into the vast fields give me an experience of fresh and normal breathe. All the day I live in a population society where smoke of vehicles and smell of dirt enters into my nose but here in these open fields when I was close to nature everything was pure and fresh and I was breathing normally and freshly.
👀 Attention reset: Moving away from crowded society to these pure fields I felt an attention reset in my mind. I was ready and ready fresh for coming up tasks. I was feeling the sense of freshness which raised my attention and simultaneously I felt more energized.
🙂 Mood lifting: Probably think I was very excited I never assumed that I will be able to speak any single word in front of camera but here my friend was making my video and I was speaking to describe my thoughts. This was because I was very excited at that time and that is why my confidence lessness shifted towards believing myself and my excited mood enabled me to record this video.
📸 I actually observed: While capturing pictures of nature I was observing nature from very close while taking those pictures. I observed and that scene before taking the picture the direction of sunlight exposure shutter and colors and then I clicked the shutter. It enabled me to observe the objects more around me and it helped me to observe the things clearly.
🧠 Story Includes: Arisha, the Elevator incident and Phobia situation after the incident.
Alisha entered the lift, the lift got stuck and she started to feel panic and nervous. With the fear she got unconscious and when she recovered she started to use stairs instead of elevator as a result her cardiac health got serious.
🚨 During the Elevator Incident
As according to the story Alisha got stuck into the elevator and unconscious during the emergency condition.
Possible Mistakes she made:
- 😰 Let panic fully take over: While she was stuck in the elevator she started to feel panic and afraid too. Her panic took over her and she started to become more and more nervous as a result she fell unconscious.
- 📵 Only texting instead of Calling the E-Service: Sent only message which meant she texted the emergency service. Instead, calling might have fast and speedy responses.
Possible Steps she should take (not blaming)
- 🧘♀️ Focus on slow breathing: she was breathing quickly during the incident instead she should have focus on slow breathing to control the whole situation. Because breeding slowly would help to realise that the situation is in control. This is a psychological factor that helps to control any panic situation.
- 🔔 Use elevator alarm button: after following the first step she must be in her conscious and she should have to use the elevator alarm button to call any emergency help.
- 🧠 Remind herself: “Elevators have safety brakes”: I don't think that any elevator installed in the City of Dhaka which is the capital of Bangladesh must not have emergency safety brakes. Almost all the elevators have the emergency steps safety brakes and she should remind herself that elevators have safety brakes and there is no need to panic . The situation will be normal in some intervals.
🏢 After the Rescue, the mistakes she made
There are some mistakes she made after the rescue
Main mistake: Avoidance
- She started to avoid using the elevator again because her elevator = danger and she was avoiding it. Not using the elevator started to make a phobia in her mind and she was always afraid of using the elevator. Instead she should use the elevator again to fight her phobia.
- 🧍♀️ Handling trauma alone: instead of taking any psychological therapy she decided to handle her trauma alone and the situation started to be more serious and serious.
- ❤ ️ Ignoring physical warning signs: she had tachycardia, but she continuously ignored the physical warning by using stairs again and again.
| 🧩 What She Should Have Done After the Incident |
|---|
1. 🗣️ Seek psychological therapy early
Trauma-focused therapy could help reprocess the elevator memory safely and amazingly.
2. 🪜➡️🛗 Gradual exposure instead of total avoidance
Example steps:
- Stand near elevator
- Step inside with doors open
- Ride one floor with a friend
- Slowly build tolerance
(As slow steps are more advantageous)
3. 🫀 Follow medical advice strictly
She must follow the medical advice directly instead of ignoring the medical and Physical Signs.
1. Gradual Exposure | Gradual Exposure to the object or thing that causes phobia might help to reduce the risk of that phobia. |
|---|---|
2. Breathe Control | During phobia you will be breath rate increases which must be controlled and if once controlled it becomes very easy to control phobia. |
3. Thought Reframing | As every kind of belief for thought starts with our thinking so reframing our thinking or thoughts can help us to control any situation including phobia. |
4.Relaxation Training♂️ | Relaxation helps to calm our mind and the calmness of mind also helps to control stress anxities nervousness that usually appear during phobia. |
5. Consistency Practice️ | One of the most important step to control phobias is the consistency of above mentioned parameter. Because consistency is the key to success to overcome any trouble therefore keep practicing. |
