"SLC31-W4 // Steem Expedición, Joyas Ocultas y Secretos Locales: Curiosidades y Rarezas"
Steemian Friends,
Dhaka Match Factory is a familiar name among the old factories of Bangladesh. Almost all of us have been using matches since childhood. Matches were a very necessary thing to light the stove in the kitchen, light candles, or light a fire in the village tea shop. Dhaka Match Factory is one of the largest factories involved in the production of matches. This factory, located in the Shyampur area, is not only a production center but also an important part of the industrial history of Bangladesh. Matches called Prajapati were once used in every kitchen in our country. It was created by the Pakistan government as a government institution in 1955. Later, after Bangladesh became independent, the responsibility of the company was handed over to a Swedish company in 1989. Later, the Bhaiya Group of Companies of Bangladesh took over the responsibility of the Dhaka Match Factory. The company was closed after the labor movement in 2005. The company was located on the banks of the Buriganga River on about 14 acres of land.
While going to my office in the Shyampur area, I pass in front of the Dhaka Match Factory. From a distance, the big gate of the factory and the quiet environment inside are visible. The movement of workers in front of the gate, the movement of freight vehicles, and the environment of the surrounding industrial area indicate that this is a busy area. Shyampur is already known as an old industrial area of Dhaka. There are various types of factories here, so the impression of industry is clearly visible in the environment of the area. Since the company has been closed for a long time, the houses and offices inside have created a ghostly atmosphere. At one time, thousands of people worked here. The trees growing along the buildings make it seem like they are haunted houses.

The then company owner had his office in this old building.
I entered with an employee who worked here. He introduced me to the various office spaces of the factory at that time. The most important aspect of Dhaka Match Factory is that it has been manufacturing daily necessities for people for a long time. Matches are such a thing that, although small, are very important in our daily lives. Matches are still used to light gas stoves, clay stoves, or for various purposes. Although the use of lighters and modern ignition systems has increased nowadays, the need for matches has not completely disappeared. Especially among rural people and small shops, matches are still widely used.

This was the road for workers to travel.
Inside the factory, various stages of work such as cutting wood, preparing chemical mixtures, putting flammable materials on the ends of the sticks, and packaging are completed. Many workers work on these tasks. Through their hard work, thousands of matches reach the market every day. Looking at the old buildings inside, you can understand how big a role the industry plays in the country's economy. It is easy to understand how much labor is involved in even a small matchstick. The residences for the workers, the medical hall, and the workers' unions are now ghost houses. Huge bots have engulfed the buildings.

This was the ration card room for the workers.
There is a big mosque and an orphanage here. There are a few security guards to provide security. The mosque, the bus station here is named after the Dhaka Match Factory. Since it is on the banks of the river, various species of birds live here. There is a separate gate to enter the mosque. I have shown the current location of a popular company in our country through the challenge.

I used to walk to and from the office next to the Dhaka Match Factory for many days. I was curious about the environment inside, so I entered with someone I knew. He once worked here. He explained to me about the history of the various places inside. If you enter here, everyone will be scared by the scary scene of the snakes and the houses. I came to know from people that ghosts live here now. Seeing the environment inside, I am sure that snakes, wild animals, and ghosts definitely live here. I had wanted to enter here for a long time.
Dhaka Match Factory is located on the banks of the river with a vast area. Twenty years ago, forty thousand people used to work here. Workers used to work in different units. It was a popular industrial factory in our country. Due to being closed for a long time, the entire area has grown trees. The big trees, along with the old buildings, have created a terrible scene. A very big company has today been transformed into a strange house.
I spoke to some people who worked at the Dhaka Match Factory. The employees working here used to get a lot of benefits. Currently, the employees working here have more privileges than the government employees. Starting from medical facilities, an employee used to get all the benefits here, so the people working here regret that it has been closed.
I will name this strange house the Ghost House. Anyone who sees the huge banyan trees and the walls of the houses around will be scared, so I will name this house the Ghost House. Once upon a time, this was the most popular industrial factory in this area. Today, it has been transformed into a ghost house.
