The initial hype, but after a period, the value crashes because the token mechanism is not sustainable. If there are too many tokens, the value decreases due to inflation. If there are not enough tokens, it can be difficult for users. This is where token engineering can help, with a balance between supply and demand.

Incentives are a key element of token engineering. Users participate in blockchain systems for an incentive. Mining, validating, developing and using should be rewarded. For instance, validators provide security and should be compensated. Users should be rewarded for their support. I think that trust is born out of fairness.
