AGOSTO 🇮🇹🇬🇧
🇮🇹
Ultimo sforzo.

So it's August, the most important month of the summer, they say.
They say because in my job as Village Manager, Ferragosto, which is a bit like the summer New Year's Eve, arrives after about three months of season, and after that it's all downhill, even though there's still a month to go.
Finally, people have arrived, even though, according to the operators here, there are more people in the hotels, campsites, and villages than at the beach.
A strange phenomenon.
Many people, even with paid umbrellas and loungers, prefer to spend their days at the pool, perhaps because of the scorching heat or the closer proximity to the bar.
We've been full since the second week of July; I've never seen so many foreigners this month. Usually, they come from Northern Europe in June and September, but this year we have tons of them even in July; times and trends change.
High prices: a mixed fried fish dish at a restaurant costs around 30 euros, spaghetti with clams costs 18 to 20, and it depends on the place.
On my day off, I head to Lido Adriano since there's little to nothing at Lido di Dante. I found a place...La Bodeguida, where they make an excellent spritz, and I enjoy an aperitif before returning to the hotel.
I'm quite tired, but it's not the time to give up. After Ferragosto, things will change mentally, too. I repeat, there's still a month to go, but by then the hardest part will be done, and the port of call will begin to come into view.
One last effort.
