Mi capita, nel mio non frequente navigare su Fb, di imbattermi in post che parlano di concerti estivi di band italiane storiche che ascoltavo da ragazzino o che ascoltavano addirittura i ragazzi che, allora, erano piu' grandi di me.
Lasciamo stare i Pooh, sono un discorso a parte, dei quasi ottantenni o oltre che riempiono gli stadi meritano, che piaccia o meno la loro musica, solo applausi.
Chi non fa piu' parte di quella band, D'Orazio e Negrini e' perche' e' passato a miglior vita.

La Pfm continua il suo tour infinito, sono rimasti della formazione originale Di Cioccio, Djvass, Fabbri che e' arrivato dopo mentre gli altri sono nuovi.
I Cugini di Campagna sono piu' o meno sempre gli stessi ma lasciamo stare...parliamo di musica.
Le altre band dell'epoca hanno 1 degli elementi originali, gli altri sono morti o se ne sono andati, il fatto di poter usare il nome originale dipende da chi se lo era intestato all'epoca e dalla volonta', di chi in quelle band non c'e' piu', di consentirlo.

Parlo della Bottega dell'Arte, delle Orme (quanto le ho amate) Collage, Giardino dei Semplici, Camaleonti, Dik Dik, Alunni del sole, News Trolls, Matia Bazar, Santo California.
Poi ci sono i Nomadi ma anche loro sono un discorso a parte, hanno il loro pubblico, come i Pooh ma molto piu' di nicchia, che li segue da 60 anni.
I gruppi che ho citato si possono ancora considerare tali o sono delle cover band dove uno c'era e gli altri sono arrivati dopo?

Nei loro casi, quasi sempre, non parliamo di concerti a pagamento, vengono ingaggiati da una pro loco che prepara un programma estivo per il paese, il concerto si fa in piazza, la gente accede gratis, il palco e' del comune, loro arrivano e se va bene suonano, altrimenti playback o basi su cui cantare.
Ovviamente il tempo passa per tutti, alcune performance che ho ascoltato sono francamente imbarazzanti ma capisco l'esigenza legittima di tirare su qualche soldino facendo serate e sfruttando un nome che un tempo aveva successo.

Alcuni sono ancora in gamba, vi dico francamente che se devo scegliere fra loro e la merda attuale...loro per tutta la vita.

In my infrequent browsing on Facebook, I sometimes come across posts about summer concerts by historic Italian bands I listened to as a kid, or even those older than me.
Let's leave aside Pooh, they're a different story. Those in their late 80s who fill stadiums deserve nothing but applause, whether you like their music or not.
Those who are no longer part of that band, D'Orazio and Negrini, have passed away.

PFM continues its never-ending tour; the original lineup includes Di Cioccio, Djvass, and Fabbri, who joined later, while the others are new.
Cugini di Campagna are more or less still the same, but let's leave that aside...let's talk about music.
The other bands of the time have one of the original members; the others have died or left. Whether or not they can use the original name depends on who owned it at the time and on the willingness of those who are no longer in those bands to allow it.

I'm talking about Bottega dell'Arte, Orme (how I loved them), Collage, Giardino dei Semplici, Camaleonti, Dik Dik, Alunni del sole, News Trolls, Matia Bazar, and Santo California.
Then there are the Nomadi, but they too are a different story. They have their own audience, like the Pooh, but much more niche, that has been following them for 60 years.
Can the groups I mentioned still be considered as such, or are they cover bands where one was there and the others came later?

In their cases, almost always—and we're not talking about paid concerts—they're hired by a local tourist board that puts together a summer program for the town. The concert takes place in the town square, people get in for free, the stage belongs to the town, they show up and, if it goes well, they play; if not, they lip-sync or sing along to it.

Of course, time passes for everyone. Some performances I've heard are frankly embarrassing, but I understand the legitimate need to make some money by performing gigs and capitalizing on a name that was once successful.

Some are still good. I'll tell you frankly, if I have to choose between them and the current shit... them for life.
