Food for vanity.

Food for vanity.

Vanity, no one really knows what it is.

Either it's something that sometimes lives inside us when we allow it to, or it's always been there, but sleeps, waking up under favorable circumstances.

Yes, it can be compared to a beloved pet that we pet.

But we try to control a pet, while vanity can get completely out of control.

As a rule, it's a self-important achievement, sometimes even completely useless.

As a child, I had many reasons for vanity.

For example, I was proud that I knew all the countries of the world and their capitals, could name the artist of any famous painting in any museum, or name a plant from a picture... essentially, all this is worthless if it doesn't bring any benefit.

As I grew older, I realized how to overcome vanity: just go out into a green meadow, look around, and realize that I don't know everything.

There can be so much unknown to me on this small patch of land that a very healthy thought comes to mind: I'm always a first-grader in this world!

Vanity is a pleasant thing, but conquering it is even more pleasant.

@barski, esto me recordó a una exposición que vi el año pasado. Misma vibra pero con tu toque personal.

Upvoted! Thank you for supporting witness @jswit.

I love how you've woven a beautiful narrative around the theme of vanity, and the contrast between the controlled pride of a child and the unbridled ego of adulthood is striking - the photos in the meadow are a perfect accompaniment to this reflective piece 😊🌼👏
