Conspiracy Theories and Other "Nonsense"
An acquaintance of mine passed away a few days ago.
"Allegedly" he committed suicide, at age 53.
I say allegedly, because David was not exactly in a state of mind that would typically lead somebody to want to take their own life. Of course, we can never know entirely what's going on with somebody but it just seems incredibly out of character.
It seems even more out of character for somebody who — just a few days previously — was talking on his podcast about how suicides were just a "wrong" thing.
Of course, where things start to get a little bit interesting is in the fact that David was a big part of the so-called "disclosure" movement, always talking about — and pressuring government offices — to fully reveal what they know about extraterrestrial research and UFOs.
Now, whether you believe in such things or not is perhaps less significant than the fact that a few weeks ago one of his more popular podcasts was talking about the fact that a number of relatively prominent scientists working with what you might call "edge science" seem to have been mysteriously dying without obvious causes, over the past five years or so.
Does sort of make a person wonder whether this alleged "suicide" was really a suicide. Or was he perhaps getting close to a truth that made certain people want to "unalive" him?
I suppose we will never know, as the official record states that the cause of death was suicide... as a result of which it is unlikely that there will be any kind of formal investigation.
I have never been a follower of — or believer in — the vast swirl of conspiracy theories that often seem to go through our world. However, this particular death does strike me as a little bit odd and unexpected. I have seen and known enough people personally who took their own lives to have a fairly strong feeling that David was not in the kind of frame of mind of somebody suicidal.
It also leaves me wondering about the overarching truth of the substantial number of semi-prominent people who die mysterious deaths. Is it all just coincidence, or is there some sinister guiding hand behind their premature demise?
Moreover, is there actually a lot more between Heaven and Earth than we could possibly know? And is there somebody somewhere who has a vested interest in our not knowing everything?
I must confess that I tend to be rather naive in these kinds of cases.
Regardless, it makes me feel rather sad that somebody relatively well-known in what we can only call "The Fringe Sciences" is no longer with us. He was only in his early fifties and still had a lot to share with the world.
While I still think most conspiracy theories are basically nonsense, this latest event does leave me with some question marks in my head.
Thanks for stopping by, and have a great weekend!

I’m really sorry to hear about your friend – however he died. There are some very crazy conspiracy theories that some very crazy people believe in. And there’s a lot of real rubbish out there. It’s precisely that which makes the nonsense seem so plausible...
Thank you.
Yes, the world is full of craziness and crazy people who would prefer to be stuck in an "alternate reality" inside their heads, rather than live in the actual reality around them.
Upvoted! Thank you for supporting witness @jswit.
Sad to hear about your friend. It definitely raises some questions. This is really thought-provoking… sometimes things don’t feel as simple as they seem.
Thank you.
Much of the time, things are definitely NOT as simple as they appear. It is up to us to get answers at a deeper level.
