A Shallow look on Religion

I do not believe in any religion. Of course the only one I have ever been exposed to is Christianity in many of its forms. My Mother was a Catholic , my Father was an atheist. But for first and second grade I was exposed to Mennonite teaching as the school I went to was Mennonite. Then as I grew up, though still a kid I visited several churches from different denominations like Adventist, Baptist, Church of God, Methodist and of course Catholic. So I grew up forming an idea that was born of what I saw. I found several things that made me wonder if I was reading up the right road, remember all I was able to read was the Bible. But when I thought of that it made me think of infinity and I could not wrap my mind around that, I mean if I went to hell it was forever, for whatever sins I had made and not repented or accepted Christ as savior.

Eventually I had an epiphany, you know just as an example, suppose Hitler did not commit suicide, but was taken to Russia, tortured and sent to a Gulag. There he regretted everything he had done, or better said ordered done, repented and accepted Christ as his savior. According to Christianity this would make him a candidate for Heaven. Now can you see why I was somewhat doubtful about this. Here is a man responsible for millions dying without repenting and going straight to hell yet he gets a pass to Heaven. But apart from that is 100 years of being a very bad person enough to live all eternity in torment? I see no sense in that. So that made me seriously question the main tenet of Christianity.

Then another thing that makes me wonder is, here we have an all knowing, eternal , all encompassing god who makes no mistakes and definitely knows what has happened, what is happening and what will happen. He has a plan, And yet here we are, mere mortal beings praying to God so he can change something which, if it is happening is part of his plan. I don't buy into that, Praying might be good, because at least you get to relieve yourself of something that is worrying you, but I really don't think God is going to change his plans because I ask him to.

So, you will probably assign me the epithet of Atheist, but not completely because sometimes I do look around and I figure a sentient being had to create everything, so sometimes I do believe there is something like God, something that is out of our understanding that creates. But I really don't believe this being will have people write a handbook. If you look at the ten commandments in the Bible, apart from the ones that pertain directly to God are all just common sense dictates. Anyone can see that these commandments are spot on, no killing, no stealing, no adultery. I agree with them. But I have serious doubts that they were dictated by God. Plus Melquisedec has always had me wondering.

As I said I have only been immersed in Christianity, i have no idea about any other religions. I do own a Koran but have never taken the time to read it. I read the Bhagavad Gita, powerful but does not confirm anything. I would like to get my hands on the Tibetan book of the dead. Then of course there are the esoteric orders, Rosicrucian's, Gnostics, Masons. they all have knowledge, but I have never been able to tap into them, just superficially so I have no idea what they are about.
Another thing I question is the existence of Satan, a wonderful Angel who turned bad. It just makes me wonder that such a great being could actually think it could beat God the creator of everything. Don't get me wrong there is good and evil but I think they are complementary and both emanate from the same source.

Of course these are my ideas and they are absolutely no better than yours, perhaps even worse and my whole philosophy is actually dumb, but that is what I think. Also people trying to make things go so that Jesus comes back, if you are really a Christian you should know He will come back whenn He has to come back, Actually that is another thing I don't believe will happen.
