SLC31-W3: Shop & Share Challenge - Street Market Purchase

Here I am in the Week-3 of Season 31 challenge to show you my local street market. The one I am showing you is within 100 meters of my house where I often walk to buy milk, bread, sweets or even a hair cut. As the contest demands I have done nothing fancy but first of all went for my regular flour shop who sells all sorts of flours and bought wheat and gram flour in small quantities.

Generally I walk to this market but today I went by my bike to show you my experience. By the way, there is no real bargaining, and as far freshness that market was not yet fully open since I went a bit too early.
We have different markets in this area but the one I am referring to is the nearest true street market in my area common and daily need items. You don't have to climb ladders or step in but do all your shopping standing in the open.

Oh yes, here you can find, fresh food like fruits, vegetables etc and also local items such as household goods, spices, and clothes. In this market street market buyers especially ladies indulge in bargaining over price. However, the gents are no good at bargaining so some of my trader friends tell me that they quote almost the right price to men.
Now I come to the point and show you the street market. I parked my bike at this point and walked around with my phone's camera on so to show you the are of this market is visit a street or open market and share your real-life activity with the street or open market with us.

✓ Visit a Street or an Open Market
DH Market, Pallavpuram Phase 1 is my local neighborhood market in Meerut, near Hanuman Temple, good daily items shopping with neat and small retail shops.
This market has everything one needs including gift shops with birthday and greeting card items, decorative items, grocery stores, and small departmental shops,
I mostly buy both daily-use items as well as small celebration goods from here. The market has food stalls and snacks like egg roll, spring roll, and veg roll nearby, which makes it a nice place to walk have a nice market feel.

✓ Tell us why you chose that street or open market
This market as I told you is as easy to reach and useful for me because of its compact location and mix of shops. True, It is not a large mall-style market but more of a busy local commercial area where one can find daily need items for quick purchasing.
I can walk to this market without changing into formals so overall, it's like a convenient, community-focused market rather than a high-end shopping destination and if I have to go to such a high-end market I can walk 200 hundred meters further for bigger ones.

The market is more of a local neighborhood market than a big shopping center, so it mainly serves daily needs, clothes, groceries, gifts, and small services.
DH Market Modipuram shops:
Fashion Stores - shirt retail and readymade garment wholesaling.
Boutique - boutique and fashion
Grocery stores
Fashion Parlors
Tailors
Hair cut
Electrical shops
General stores — small daily-need stores, Gift shops, Stationery shops, Food/snack vendors
Service shops- like dry cleaners, Hair cutting
Dairy- Milk, yogurt and ice-creams

✓ The price of the item you purchased from the street or the open market
I bought:
| Item | Price INR | Steem |
|---|---|---|
| Nuts 250 gm | 50 | 10 |
| Wheat flour 2kg | 85 | 17 |
| Gram Flour 1/2 kg | 45 | 9 |
| Bananas 9 numbers | 50 | 10 |
| Small Bread 1 | 20 | 4 |
✓ Describe your shopping experience, including pricing, bargaining, and product quality
Shopping at DH Market, always feels convenient being local market, with a mix of daily-need stores, gift shops, boutique-style clothing outlets, groceries, and small service shops in one place where I can walk easily.
It is easy to reach from my house so the it feels fun and also keeps me active and practical rather than fancy or crowded like a mall which I have had enough in Australia where there are no such markets.
One can buy household essentials, fashion items, greeting cards, small presents, milk, curd and snacks in a single visit and yes a hair cut if you need one. The prices and variety make it useful for routine shopping not much bargaining as most of the shopkeepers are personally known to me.

✓ In some places street or open markets usually cause traffic describe how busy the street or open market is
This market is never too crowded being in a housing society but as a few coaching institutes are here so when the batches of students come out after insisting their session during the evenings and gather at fast food counters it becomes a little chaotic but that's okay for the sake of shopkeepers even if the families have to wait for a while. There is nothing serious traffic disturbance as such.
✓ What is your advice to the street or open market sellers to improve business performance?
Although the traders know their interests best yet being a marketing professional I can say that street and open market sellers must improve business by keeping stalls neat, using fair price policy, and keep their best-selling items at prime places so their customers notice them as they visit.
They should know their busy hours, as sometimes I feel that they should open early and stay late. They should offer discounts reducing their profit margin so to attract more customers.
I know a couple of them are rude so keeping a friendly behavior and service, will bring repeat-customers. The shopkeepers in this market like all other markets have digital tools like WhatsApp, UPI, and Google Pay so payment is not a problem and also they offer credit to their regular especially salaried customers.

Review/Grading
Review:
The shop renders good services to its customers and it's a normal norm for customers to bargain for price especially when customers are trying to save money or buy a lot of items. A neat business environment attracts a lot of customers while a dirty business environment chases away customers.
Thank you so much for the review.
