The Diary Game [25/05/2026] // The Silent Sacrifices of Motherhood.
Hi guys, accept warm Steem greetings from the motherland of Cameroon, and welcome to my blog, where I'm gonna share my lifestyle content with you.
Motherhood is one of the most beautiful journeys, but it is also one of the most exhausting and emotionally demanding responsibilities anyone can carry. Behind the smiles, family photos, and daily routines, mothers silently sacrifice their comfort, rest, and health, and sometimes even their own needs, to keep their families going.
Today reminded me of that reality in a very personal way. It started as a normal workday and I had plans, responsibilities, deadlines, and expectations waiting for me. Like every mother trying to balance work and family, I woke up prepared to face the day but motherhood has a way of changing plans without warning.
My son suddenly became very sick with a severe cough and cold, and his temperature became alarmingly high. In that moment, nothing else mattered except his well-being. I immediately had to rush to the pharmacist to buy medications and ensure he received the care he needed. Watching your child weak and uncomfortable is one of the hardest feelings for any parent, especially a mother who naturally carries the emotional weight of her children’s pain.

Because of his condition, I had to be absent from work to monitor him closely throughout the day. While some people may see it as “…just staying home,” many mothers understand the pressure that comes with missing work unexpectedly. The fear of unfinished tasks, the financial implications, and the stress of balancing professional responsibilities while caring for a sick child, it can be overwhelming, but the day was far from over.
As I cared for my son, I also had another important responsibility waiting for me which was helping my daughter prepare for her exams the next day. No matter how tired I felt, I still had to sit down and revise several subjects with her. We went through National Language and Culture, Home Economics, Engineering, Music, and Arts. Subject after subject, question after question, explanation after explanation. I wanted her to feel confident and supported because mothers often become teachers, counsellors, nurses, and motivators all at once.
By the time we were done revising, I was completely exhausted. Physically drained, mentally tired, emotionally stretched. In fact, I became so consumed with taking care of everyone else that I completely forgot to eat. That is the hidden reality of motherhood.

Mothers carry invisible loads every single day. They sacrifice sleep, meals, peace of mind, career opportunities, and personal time for the people they love. Yet, many continue without complaints because their children’s needs always come first.
This is a reminder to appreciate mothers everywhere. Check on them, support them, encourage them and offer help where you can. And to every mother silently struggling to hold everything together, your sacrifices matter, your efforts are seen, and your strength is deeply admirable. Until my next diary, guys, I wish everyone a wonderful and exciting weekend ahead.
