I CAN OF MYSELF DO NOTHING
“I [Jesus] CAN OF MYSELF DO NOTHING. As I hear, I judge; and My judgment is righteous, BECAUSE I DO NOT SEEK MY OWN WILL BUT THE WILL OF THE FATHER WHO SENT ME."
John 5:30 (NKJV)
Jesus in His earthly ministry operated as a human, not God. The Bible says, He made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men (Philippians 2:5-8). He had to depend on the Holy Spirit and build a strong tie or intimacy with God for Him to fulfil His assignment on the earth (John 5:19; 6:38; 8:28; 12:49; 14:10).
We could see that before Jesus started His ministry, He did not perform any miracle or walk and operated in the miraculous—signs and wonders. It was when He returned from the wilderness where He fasted for forty days and forty nights, which was after His baptism in water and the coming of the Holy Spirit on Him, that the signs and wonders started manifesting in His ministry (Luke 3:21-23; 4:1,14,15).
Jesus did not operate in the world as God, in His earthly ministry, He operated as any other human would do. If He had come as God, would He had needed to be anointed; who will anoint God? But He did not come as God, thus, He needed to be anointed and be filled with the Holy Spirit (John 3:34; Acts 10:38).
He had every limitation that any average human being would have. Thus, He had to depend on God for whatever He wanted to do in His earthly ministry (John 5:19,30).
The other day, someone was asking on social media, why would Jesus need to pray to God If He were God? But they have forgotten that Jesus stripped Himself of His Glory whilst coming to the earth, He came as a man, like any other human being (Philippians 2:7). This is the reason why He needed the infilling of the Holy Spirit before He could start His ministry work on the earth (Luke 3:21-23). He needed intimacy with God through prayers, before He could succeed in His earthly ministry (Matthew 14:23; Mark 1:35; Luke 5:16).
Thus, He had to always pray to God for help, to be able to accomplish His mission (Mark 1:35; Luke 6:12; 9:28,29).
One major thing that should be noted in the earthly ministry of Jesus is, He did not seek His own will but the will of the Father who sent Him: "FOR I HAVE COME DOWN FROM HEAVEN, NOT TO DO MY OWN WILL, BUT THE WILL OF HIM WHO SENT ME" (John 6:38 NKJV).

If Jesus needed a tie or an intimacy with God to succeed in His earthly ministry, you would do well to equally pay attention to your intimacy with God; If success in your ministry work or
assignment would not be a mirage or an illusion.
Peace.
