Southampton Coach Tonda Eckert Kept On Despite Spying RowsteemCreated with Sketch.

So, Dragan Solak, the fella who owns Southampton, has made it pretty clear that Tonda Eckert, the head coach, isn't going anywhere. This is despite the whole kerfuffle about Eckert authorising a bit of cheeky spying on other Championship teams. You know, peeking at what the opposition is up to. It's a bit much. 😕

BBC Sport report mentioned it was a "mistake." A mistake, eh? Like leaving the hob on or forgetting your car keys. Not quite like sending people to watch rivals train or snoop around their tactics. That's a different kettle of fish altogether. It properly stinks of desperation 🙄

Solak, bless his cotton socks, told the BBC that he won't be giving Eckert the boot. He reckons it was a screw-up, an error, but one that doesn't warrant sacking the bloke. He's standing by his coach, apparently. It's a strong stance, or maybe just a bit daft, depending on how you look at it. You'd think after something like that, a proper telling off, maybe a suspension, would be on the cards. But nope, he's staying put.

Now, I'm not saying people shouldn't get a second chance. We all mess up sometimes, don't we? But spying on other teams, trying to get an unfair advantage, that's not just a minor slip-up. That's a blatant disregard for fair play, a proper dodgy move. It makes you wonder what sort of example this sets for everyone else in the league. Is it a green light to just crack on with whatever shady tactics you fancy, as long as your owner's got your back? It's a bit of a piss-take, frankly. 👎

This whole thing makes the Championship look a bit like a playground where some kids are pinching each other's lunch money. It's meant to be professional football, not some cloak-and-dagger operation. Tonda Eckert clearly made a poor choice, a really poor choice, and the club's reputation takes a bit of a whack because of it. It's not a great look for anyone involved, especially when you're trying to get back into the Premier League. Honesty and integrity? Seems they're a bit scarce here. 😐

So, Southampton carries on with Eckert at the helm. Let's see if this 'mistake' actually affects their season, or if it just becomes another one of those silly stories we all forget in a few weeks. It certainly shows where Solak's priorities lie - loyalty, perhaps, or maybe just avoiding the hassle and cost of finding a new coach. Either way, it's a bit underwhelming, isn't it? Just another day in the wonderfully baffling world of football. 🤔
