When the first round and plump leaves appear on the brinjal plant grown in a pot or bed at home,
ghar ke paudhe par pehla fal aane ka ahsas behad khas hota hai. jab aap subah-subah chai ka cup haath mein lekar apne bagiche mein jaate hain aur hari pattiyon ke beech chhupa hua wah pehla chhota sa baingan dekhte han, to chehre par achanak ek badi si muskan aa jaati hai. yah is baat ka praman hota hai ki aapki dekhbhal aur prakriti ke jadu ne milkar kaam kiya hai. bazar se to hum hamesha hi sabjiyan kharidte han, lekin apne hathon se ugae paudhe se pehla baingan todne ka anand bilkul anokha aur jaivik (organic) hota hai. pahla baingan aane par dhyan rakhne yogya kuch jaruri baaten: paudhe ko sahara den: jaise-jaise baingan ka aakaar badhega, uska vajan bhi badhega. baingan ka paudha thoda najuk hota hai, isliye fal ke vajan se tahni toot na jaye, iske liye paudhe ke saath ek majboot lakdi ka sahara (stake) jarur laga den. poshan (Nutrients) badhaen: fal banne ki is prakriya mein paudhe ko bahut adhik urja ki jarurat hoti hai. is samay mitti mein thodi acchi sadi hui gobar ki khad ya varmikampost (kenchua khad) jarur dalen, taki baingan ko pura poshan mile aur wah acche aakaar mein bada ho sake. pani ka santulan: is dauran mitti mein nami bani rahni chahiye, lekin dhyan rahe ki gamle mein pani jama na ho. jarurat se jyada pani dene se phool aur chhote fal gir sakte han. sahi samay par tudai (Harvesting): jab baingan ki tvacha puri tarah chamakdar (glossy) dikhe aur chhune par wah halka sa dabe, tab use danthal ke paas se kainchi ya pruner ki madad se kaat len. baingan ko jyada dinon tak paudhe par na chhoden, nahin to wah andar se kada ho jayega aur usme beej bade ho jaenge. yah pehla baingan na sirf aapke kitchen ki shobha badhata hai, balki aapko gardening ke safar mein aage badhne ki nai urja aur hausala bhi deta hai.

The feeling of seeing the first fruit appear on a home-grown plant is truly special. When you step into your garden early in the morning with a cup of tea and spot that first tiny eggplant hiding amidst the green leaves, a wide smile instantly spreads across your face. It is proof that your care and the magic of nature have worked in harmony. While we often buy vegetables from the market, the joy of harvesting the first eggplant from a plant you nurtured yourself is unique and purely organic.
Here are a few important things to keep in mind when the first eggplant appears:
Provide support: As the eggplant grows, it gains weight. Since the plant is somewhat delicate, be sure to install a sturdy wooden stake to support it and prevent the branch from snapping under the fruit's weight.
Boost nutrition: The plant requires a significant amount of energy during the fruiting stage. At this time, add some well-decomposed cow dung manure or vermicompost to the soil; this ensures the eggplant receives ample nutrients and grows to a good size.
Water balance: Maintain soil moisture, but ensure water does not stagnate in the pot. Overwatering can cause flowers and small fruits to drop off.
Harvesting at the right time: When the eggplant's skin looks glossy and yields slightly to the touch, cut it off near the stem using scissors or pruning shears. Do not leave the eggplant on the plant for too long; otherwise, the flesh becomes tough, and the seeds inside grow large.
This first eggplant not only adds charm to your kitchen but also gives you renewed energy and encouragement to continue your gardening journey.
