Hello, I'm pretty new around these parts!

Hello, world!

This is a "Getting to know me" post! My real name is Steven, and I'm from Adelaide, Australia; and have varied interests. You'll also notice that this isn't a new profile... I made the choice to join Steemit almost a year ago, on the recommendation a work colleague @mattclarke

I enjoy video games, cinema, writing, and musings on the "what-ifs" of the world, which makes me a huge fan of science and speculative fiction. I also love new technology and futurism, even though most of my posts will likely focus on the ephemeral nature of all things. I hold a Masters Degree in Visual Art and Design (New Media and Photography), obtained from the University of South Australia.

I'm also a bearded individual, and have managed to attract the nickname "Fluffy", of which @mattclarke reminds me almost every time we chat! Getting fitter and staying healthy has also become an interest of mine over the last two years: here's a pic of me trying to look scary:

My Reactions so far to steemit

I posted one thing, then wandered off and got distracted by other things. I've made a dedicated choice to now become a more active member of the community at large. I don't regret it. The response to my photographic work, an image of Capri Island completely overwhelmed me. Thank you to those who enjoyed seeing it! Here it is again:

My future plans for Steemit

In short, to share my thoughts, with the world. The subjects will be varied, and reflect my interests. In the past few days I've tried to make some posts in the categories that I will be publishing things in:

• Video Games : A review, for X-Com: Enemy Within
• Photography : My actual first steemit post.
• Academic 'level' writing: Some musings regarding death and memorials.
• General Ramblings (what this post is turning into!)

I'm also on Twitter, and am slowly starting to try to learn how to do programming, so you'll probably see some frustrated posts about that in time too!
