THAT WHICH IS BORN OF THE SPIRIT IS SPIRIT
“That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the spirit is spirit.” John 3:6 (NKJV)
Being born of the Spirit is being regenerated; formed or created again, or spiritually reborn. It means every person has to be born twice (John 3:3-6):
a. The physical birth, which is being born of the flesh (John 3:6).
b. Spiritual birth, being born of the Spirit (John 3:5,6). This step is significant in a person's life. Whoever has not taken the step is yet to be reconciled to God the Father (2 Corinthians 5:17-20). Jesus is the access or link to God the Father; it is through Him only that the whole mankind can access God (John 14:6; Acts 4:12).
When a person is reborn, the inward Man or the human spirit of the person becomes a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17). The person's old life: the wrong things he or she had done in the past are forgiven him or her; they have passed away: “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is A new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new” (2 Corinthians 5:17 NKJV). Thus, God considered the person a new creation, a saint, because Jesus' righteousness has been imputed in him or her (Romans 4:24,25).
The illustration is, Jesus was made Sin; atonement or atoning sacrifice or propitiation or appeasement for the sins of mankind (2 Corinthians 5:21; 1 John 2:2). Thus, the person who puts his or her faith in Christ Jesus, who confesses Him as Lord, is saved, and at the same time established relationship with God (Romans 10:9,10; Ephesians 2:13; Colossians 1:19-22).
Being born of the Spirit gives the newly reborn believer the opportunity to worship God in Spirit and truth. The human spirit of the reborn believer is given the right, privilege or opportunity to relate with God the Father. The Holy Spirit of God comes to reside on the inside of his or her human spirit.
If the believer, newly reborn believer, cultivated the relationship with God earnestly and properly; the relationship will grow and make the person God's confidant or friend (John 15:14,15; James 2:23).
