I am a little late with wishing you luck but I hope it helped anyway.
Almost all my external hard disks broke down on me in the past. What I pity the most it that I lost some short films and loads of extra footage but - in the end - it's all in the past and I still have my (brain) memory, so at least I can write about it ;>)
