I Think Too Much About Everything—And I Don’t Know If That Makes Me Thoughtful or Just Tired

Have you ever replayed the same conversation in your head dozens of times?

I have.

Sometimes I find myself analyzing things that most people would probably forget within minutes. A simple text message, a small decision, an awkward interaction, or even something I said weeks ago can stay in my mind far longer than it should.

For a long time, I thought this was a good thing.
I believed that thinking deeply meant I was being careful, self-aware, and thoughtful. After all, reflection helps us learn from our experiences. It helps us understand ourselves and the people around us.
But lately, I've started to wonder whether there's a point where reflection turns into exhaustion.

There are days when my mind feels like it never switches off. One thought leads to another, and before I know it, I'm imagining possibilities, outcomes, and scenarios that may never happen. Instead of finding clarity, I end up feeling mentally drained.

The strange thing is that overthinking often disguises itself as productivity.
It feels like you're solving problems when, in reality, you're sometimes just going in circles. You convince yourself that one more thought will finally bring certainty, yet certainty rarely arrives.

I've noticed that the moments when I feel most at peace aren't necessarily the moments when I have all the answers. They're the moments when I accept that not every question needs an immediate solution.
Maybe being thoughtful isn't about thinking more.

Maybe it's about knowing which thoughts deserve our attention and which ones deserve to be released.

I'm still figuring that out.
I still overanalyze conversations. I still revisit old mistakes. I still spend too much time trying to predict things that are beyond my control.
But I'm learning that a busy mind and a wise mind aren't always the same thing.
Sometimes the most thoughtful thing we can do is stop searching for perfect answers and allow ourselves a little mental rest.

What about you?

Do you consider yourself a deep thinker, or do you struggle with overthinking too? I'd love to hear your perspective in the comments.
