This winter was brutal on the bees. The guy I rent from has a hive behind the house and, even though they had plenty of honey to make it through the winter with, they couldn't handle those -40ºF temperatures. He started a new hive and is thinking of putting a lightbulb under the hive and this winter so, if it gets too cold, he can plug it in and warm things up a little.
Looks like a fun market. We hae a farmers market here, but the prices have gotten super high. :-(
We didn't get anywhere near that cold, but it was colder than we're used to. Apparently the bees adapt to the climate as well. Your bees probably would have done fine here.
It's a great little market. I wish I wasn't always so busy. Then I could go more often!
