I had my 32nd birthday in the early days of my descent into steem obsession, and started making a massive post about this paradox + a web app to go with it. Life got in the way ..
I'm curious if there would be any interest in some sort of tool that you could enter your birthday and it would find steemians with matching birthdays. Maybe you could fill in a secure form, and we could pass it thorugh a one-way hash function and compare hashes for example to minimize privacy issues.

Whoa! That's a great idea! That would be pretty fun for users here to see. If we were worried about privacy issues we could always do Steem birthdays, or just as you said, use one way hashes with a larger sample space than birthdays.
Cool thing is, even if you did a one way hash into 2000 bins, you would still hit 50% probability with approximately 54 random people. So hashing for sure would work well!
I haven't had enough coffee for this math - I'll take your word for it !
I have a bunch of projects im juggling already but I really am curious to see this in action if anybody elses want to have a go at making it - if not I'll get into it after I've launched steemface and a few other things I'm keeping secret :)
