Monk
A monk is a person who dedicates their life to religion, spirituality, and service. Monks usually live in a monastery, follow a disciplined lifestyle, and spend their time in activities such as:
- 🧘 Meditation and prayer
- 📖 Studying religious teachings
- 🤝 Helping their community
- 🌱 Living simply, often with few personal possessions
In Buddhism, monks are called bhikkhus (or bhikshus in Sanskrit). They wear distinctive robes—often saffron, maroon, or gray depending on their tradition—and follow a code of conduct that emphasizes compassion, mindfulness, and non-violence.
Monks are also found in other religions, including Christianity, where they live in monasteries and devote themselves to prayer, work, and religious study.
