In the park yesterday I photographed a burly tree trunk. It makes a nice contrast image in black & white!

Color Lab

The texture works well with contrasting colors too.

More extreme.

And a third color... is it too much?

I photographed the tree with my Canon 5D camera and 70-200 mm lens and created the color edits in Photoshop.

What causes those bumps? A diet of greasy foods? Stress? Environmental toxins?

The causes of burls on trees is unknown but there is a lot of speculation. You have contributed to the science!
