Last week-end I watched Sunset Boulevard for the first time. No doubt about it, that's Erich von Stroheim also playing the role of Maximillian "Max" von Mayerling (the straight face domestic) which granted him with being nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. I imagine he must have delivered another great performance in La Grande Illusion, because only judging by the images, German captain & aristocrat fits him well.
