At the end of the XIX century. Oleksandr Myshuga was one of the most famous singers in the world. Oleksandr Pylypov was born on June 19, 1853 in the village of Novyi Vytkiv, Radekhiv district, Lviv region, in a poor family of peasants. Poverty, deprivation and hunger early taught the young man to fight for life, instilled a desire for a better fate.

Only thanks to them, the young man got into the choir of St. George's Cathedral in Lviv, and then into the gymnasium, teachers' seminary and, finally, into the conservatory, which he graduated with honours in the class of Professor Valery Vysotsky.

Oleksandr Mishuga occupies one of the most honourable places in the history of Ukrainian concert performance as one of the best interpreters and propagandists of Ukrainian folk songs, works of domestic composers. Mishuga never forgot where he came from and to whom he owed everything, that he had. He very often came to Ukraine, gave concerts in many cities and villages.

Oleksandr Myshuga gained fame not only as a great singer, but also how famous singing professor. He began his teaching career while still a student at the conservatory, and did not leave it until his death. His successes in the pedagogical field were widely known throughout Ukraine, Russia, Poland, and eventually throughout Europe.

And when Nikolai Vitalievich Lysenko offered him a hug Position of Professor of Solo Singing at the Music and Drama Institute in Kyiv, Oleksandr Mishuga, without hesitation, accepted this offer, terminating the lucrative contract and paying a large amount of penalty, knowing full well that his salary here would be several times lower than he would have had at least in Warsaw.

He did it consciously, because he wanted to serve the development of the vocal art of his native people, he wanted to help Ukrainian Bonn in its great and honourable cause organisation and development of art education in Ukraine.

Oleksandr Pylypovych Myshuga died on March 9, 1922 in Freiburg (Germany). Friends of the singer, fulfilling his will, The ashes were transported to their homeland and buried him in his native Vitkiv under the quiet linden trees that he loved so dearly.
