Why is Mobile Data Capped While Home Wi-Fi is Unlimited?

Hey Steemit friends!
Have you ever asked yourself why, at home, we can have this unlimited-ish internet via Wi‑Fi, but then when it comes to mobile SIM data, suddenly there are strict limits? I was kinda curious lately so I looked into it a bit, and now I’m sharing what I learned, in a pretty straightforward way.

Mostly it’s about how the connection actually reaches your device.

With SIM data, your phone talks wirelessly with the nearest cell towers. Those towers then split up their available capacity among everyone who’s in the same region. So if the carriers just handed out unlimited, fast data to absolutely everyone, a few people streaming 24/7 or downloading huge files would quickly make the whole area crawl. That’s why mobile plans use data caps , to keep the network balanced and stable for the rest of us.

Home Wi‑Fi is a different story. It usually depends on real physical cabling, like fiber optic lines, that run directly toward your house. Those lines can push a ton of data without getting all jammed up the way shared airwaves can. Also your router doesn’t roam around, so providers can handle the setup and performance much more predictably, and yes it’s easier for them to manage.

So yeah, in short: SIM data is the freedom option, stay connected while moving around, while home Wi‑Fi is the steady option, unlimited use tied to one fixed location.

Hope this little post clears it up. What kind of internet plan do you rely on most during the day? Tell me down in the comments!

@hfs1, el tema es complejo y lo explicaste bastante claro. No es fácil hacer eso.
