In my community, farming is the most common occupation, and this is because our land is fertile and farming is an occupation that was inherited from our forefathers. Even those who are doing government work or working in the big private sector are into farming because of the fertile land in my community, and the farming business is moving very well in my community. After harvesting, farmers go to the market to sell their farm produce.
Farming occupation is important in my community because it is through farming that a lot of people in my community feed themselves and take care of their daily needs. Also, farming in my community promotes coexistence in my community by uniting people together.
What tools or skills are used in the occupation that people in your community do?
The tools that are used in farming that a lot of farmers in my community make use of are the following:
- Hoe for tilling of hip, and weeding of grasses
- Matches for clearing of grasses and cutting of sticks
- Chemicals and pump for spraying of grasses
- Rope for tying crops
The skills used in farming that people in my community do are going to their farm early in the morning and working before sunrise. When going to the farm, they carry food and water along, and there are usually planting and harvesting seasons.
Tell us the challenges people are facing in this occupation
Currently, the challenges people are facing in farming are floods due to the heavy rainfall. This period, it has been raining, and a lot of crops are destroyed due to floods. Herdsmen challenge, where cows are allowed to enter people's farms, leading to the destruction of crops. Also, insects and parasites are destroying people's crops.
Share with us how this occupation supports the local economy and families in your community.
This farming occupation supports the local economy through the sale of farm products. Farmers pay taxes and levies to the community head, which are used for community development, and through this occupation, a lot of people have been taking care of their families, sending their children to school, and supporting them.

Review:
Farmers are the pride of every community and nation, as they are the foundation of our society because they ensure there is food security, drive rural employment, and supply essential materials for industrial use. Your community is doing well in terms of maize farming, seeing how well-grown and green the farmland is. I am sure anyone who visits your community would enjoy eating maize.
This is inspiring. Agriculture remains ultimate source of dependency from creation. Money, wealth, and whatever we could imagine come from the ground.
Only a lazy man or women is a begger when there is abundance of lands for you to plant, atleast in not on commercial purposes, you can feed yourself and your family from there.
On your crop, corn, this is it season. How i wished i am close to have gotten some fresh stuffs. I love it roasted to go with pea.
Keep your agricultural strength alive, you will lend to many.
Once again, congratulations.
Thank you sir for your support
