The 250 year old, Treaty Oak in Jacksonville, Florida
The Treaty Oak is an octopus-like Southern live oak (Quercus virginiana) in Jacksonville, Florida.
The tree is estimated to be 250 years old and may be the single oldest living thing in Jacksonville,
predating the founding of the city by Isaiah Hart during the 1820s. It is located in Treaty Oak Park in the Southbank area of Downtown Jacksonville
I live on Black Hammock Island, if you want a place for taking pics. Does a place for jacksonville Florida exist on Steemit? What would it take to create one?

Ruins of the Fitzpatrick Plantation, on Black Hammock Island. You can see the Kingsley plantation from there, but if you go to kingsley plantation, the Fitzpatrick plantation is not veiwable. Both were Confederate plantations, but Kingsley plantation is a state park, and nobody knows about Fitzpatrick plantation, because it was a Confederate location, and was used to make salt for the Confederate army, by boiling the highly salty water coming in the creek from the ocean at Kingsley plantation. They would light a fire that was kept burning for weeks and continuosly add more brine. Then extinguish the fire and harvest the salt that had crusted in the large cauldron, about 12' wide and a foot deep. I saw it broken into peices by the Union army. The derprivation of salt greatly weakened the Confederate army and civilians.
Go to the very end of Cedar point road, and its about 30 minutes walk to the site, or you can go through the bushes about 1000 feet and be there in 10 mins, but you will be covered in ticks. Go to the left at the end of the road, and theres a boat ramp, not many people know about, launch there and it spits you onto Marker 75, and Ft Georget inlet, AKA the Redneck Riviera is right there. If you turn left onto Pumpkin Hill rd, before going to the end, travel to the end of Pumpkin Hill rd, and you will pass several Park ranger stations, and theres a massive Equestrian center on the left side of the road, about 8 miles. Keep going to the end, and on the right theres a kayak launching place with bathrooms and you can camp there. Keep going and you will see several different park buildings with roofs and BBQ grills for family gatherings etc. I like the way they spaced them about half mile apart, for privacy. Google earth it.
