The lottery propaganda continues!

You know that the odds are stacked heavily against you if you are playing the lottery, right? It's something like getting struck by lightning and bitten by a shark at the same time, in a swimming pool.

They say the overall odds are 1 in 7 but this is just a misuse of statistics. The chances of you "winning" something is like a free ticket and since these days those things are often 10 and 20 dollars I guess that is something but free "nothing" is still nothing.

i've been noticing a lot lately that many of these stories come out of the same states. It is often Maryland and South Carolina and either this news site is based out of those areas or these two state lotteries are paying to have these stories featured or fabricated. I feel like they are fabricated because most of the time if I do an independent search based on the information that is provided in the articles I cannot find any other news on this story.

The details are always sketchy and the people who win are always quoted as saying that they are going to use their winnings for something responsible like paying off their mortgage, getting their son an education, or saving for retirement. It never says that they are going to spend it on cocaine and hookers, which is probably many times greater the real thing they are going to use it on if these people are even real.

"Kenny G" in the photo the story says, is going to use the money to take care of his 3 grandchildren. Awwwww! What a wonderful story for an almost certainly completely made up person!

Lotteries are restricted from advertising for the most part just like anything related to gambling, which is exactly what the lottery is. They get around this by not advertising, instead, they put out "news stories" that don't directly advertise what they are talking about but include enough information that idiots who read this will figure out that just some regular guy named Kenny, who is a conscientious figure managed to win the same pick-5 contest in the same day for 50 grand each time.

If only you weren't so foolish with your money putting it in the bank and investing it and instead you played the lottery, you could be winning this as well, you dolt!

We can't believe anything in the news anymore and I think that the places that do have "news" have gone beyond twisting the words of politicians and have moved on to creating completely made up stuff that cannot be verified. It is particularly despicable in the situation of state lotteries because if you did the same thing, that's the same people that would come to your house and put you in jail for doing it.

I think most of the world could do themselves a serious favor by just presuming that everything they see in the news is a lie.
