Have you ever heard or what do you know about Project Popeye (circa 1060's)? I believe it was developed by the U.S. Navy out of China Lake, CA. Does Navy scientist Pierre St. Amand ring a bell?
Originally started as Project Popeye, and then formed into Operation Popeye is included in the article.
Oops, I must have read right over it. Sorry. I worked with Pierre St. Amand's son back in the early 90's at China Lake.
