Things Nigerian Mums Say That Will Never Make Sense But Are Always Right 😂

If you grew up in a Nigerian home you already know that your mum had a special language that was completely her own. No dictionary can explain it. No Google translate can help you. You just had to understand or face the consequences! 😂
I still laugh every time I think about some of the things my mum used to say. And the funniest part? She was always completely serious! 😭
Here are some of the most legendary things Nigerian mums say👇

  1. "I did not come to this world to be your mate" 😂
This was the ultimate shutdown line. The moment you tried to argue back or act too familiar — BOOM. Those words landed like a thunderbolt and the conversation was immediately over. No comeback. No explanation. Just silence and respect! 😭
    Sound familiar? 😂
  2. "Is it my head you are using to do experiment?"
Anytime you tried something new or made a mistake — this question was coming. She was not actually asking. It was a warning. A very serious warning! 😂
  3. "Go and come back"
To this day nobody has ever fully understood this instruction. Go WHERE exactly? Come back from WHERE? But somehow every Nigerian child knew exactly what it meant and obeyed immediately! 😭😂
  4. "You want to kill me in this house"
Spilled a cup of water? You want to kill her. Came home late from school? You want to kill her. Asked for money twice? You DEFINITELY want to kill her! 😂
The guilt was always maximum! 😭
  5. "I am not your mate, I am your mother"
The upgraded version of number 1! When she really wanted to make sure you understood your place in the house 😂 This one usually came with a very serious look that froze you on the spot!
  6. "When I was your age..."
Oh no. Once these words started you knew a very long story was coming and you had absolutely no choice but to sit down and listen with full respect and attention! 😭😂
  7. "Oya do it and see"
This was not encouragement. This was a THREAT disguised as a dare! No Nigerian child ever took this challenge twice! 😂
    The Truth Though "
As funny as all these lines are every single one came from a place of love. Nigerian mums have their own unique way of showing they care and even though we laugh about it now — we would not trade them for anything in the world! 😊🇳🇬
Shoutout to every Nigerian mum out there — you are dramatic, hilarious and absolutely irreplaceable! ❤️😂
    Now your turn! 😂
What is the funniest thing your Nigerian mum has ever said to you? Drop it in the comments — let's laugh together! 😂👇
