A day in the life : Day 625

in #notes3 days ago

Sunday turned out better than I expected. I spent some time in the morning reading about how streaming services are experimenting more with live sports and shorter subscription plans. Entertainment habits have changed so much. People once planned their evening around television schedules. Now we complain if an app makes us wait ten seconds. I am not sure that counts as progress in every sense.

I decided to stay away from the usual work routine for a few hours and went out to buy a new pair of slippers. The old pair had reached the stage where every wet floor became an adventure. I found a comfortable replacement without spending much, which felt like a successful shopping trip.

There was a small argument at home in the afternoon over where an important electricity receipt had been kept. Everyone remembered putting it somewhere "safe," which naturally meant nobody could find it. After searching two cupboards, we discovered it inside a newspaper. The whole issue disappeared immediately, and five minutes later everyone was discussing lunch as if nothing had happened.

I had poha in the morning and kept lunch fairly simple. With the humid monsoon weather, I haven't felt like eating anything too heavy during the day. There was a good spell of rain later, followed by that familiar cool air that makes opening the windows worthwhile.

I also watched a few videos about the growing popularity of compact electric scooters. I can understand the appeal for short city trips, although battery replacement costs still make me curious about how economical they really are after several years.

Tonight I am ending the weekend with fewer unfinished jobs than I started with. The new slippers have already passed their first wet-floor test, the mysterious receipt has returned from hiding, and Monday can wait until morning.
